■ Frequent reports of intrusion crimes. Even if you take measures inside the house, what about outside?
Reports of robberies and intrusion crimes targeting homes are constantly in the news.
Many people are conscious of taking measures inside the house, such as double-locking doors and adding auxiliary locks.
However, what about preparations for the 'outside of the house,' such as gates, fences, and shutters?
In fact, there may be a significant blind spot here.
Therefore, in collaboration with Ex-shop, we conducted a survey targeting 400 men and women nationwide who responded in a preliminary survey that they 'currently live in a detached house,' regarding 'the actual state of anxiety about 'threats from outside' for detached house residents.'

■ 67.3% responded that they 'feel anxious' about news of robberies and intrusion crimes
First, we asked if they felt anxious about their home's security after seeing recent news of robberies and intrusion crimes.
As a result, 17.5% said 'strongly feel' and 49.8% said 'somewhat feel,' totaling 67.3% who felt anxious. On the other hand, 'don't feel much' was 24.5% and 'don't feel at all' was 8.3%.
We asked those who felt anxious what kind of anxieties they had, and here are some examples:
What kind of anxieties do you sometimes feel?
・Being broken into by having the lock picked or window broken. (Female, 20s)
・Worried when away from home. (Female, 20s)
・Anxiety that burglars might enter the garden at night. (Female, 30s)
・Even though I have measures like lights, cameras, and gravel, new crimes keep emerging, and I'm worried about how much more I need to do. (Female, 40s)
・I saw on the news that someone broke in by smashing a window even with the door locked. (Female, 40s)
Many responses included 'intrusion through windows,' 'anxiety when away from home,' and 'feeling unable to keep up with measures.' Even among those who have already taken security measures, the results show confusion about 'how much more to do.'
■ 45.8% responded that they 'are not doing anything in particular' for security measures
Next, we asked what measures they are currently taking for their home's security.
The most common response was 'not doing anything in particular' at 45.8%.
This was followed by 'strengthening indoor locks/auxiliary locks' at 35.0%, 'installing sensor lights' at 26.8%, 'installing security cameras' at 17.0%, and 'strengthening gates/fences' at 6.0%.
While many people feel anxious, nearly half are not taking explicit security actions. Furthermore, even among those who are taking measures, the content tends to be biased towards indoor locks, with less than 10% going as far as strengthening exterior structures (gates, fences, shutters).
■ 61.3% responded that they 'feel' that measures for 'outside the house' are insufficient
Next, we asked if they felt that they had taken measures 'inside the house (locks, windows)' but not 'outside the house (gates, fences, shutters).'
As a result, 21.5% said 'strongly feel so' and 39.8% said 'somewhat feel so,' totaling 61.3% who felt that their 'outdoor preparations are insufficient.'
