Therefore, in collaboration with Nurikae Shop, we conducted a survey on "exterior wall painting peak season" targeting 400 men and women nationwide who responded in a preliminary survey that they "live in a detached house they own."

As a result, 92% responded "did not know," while only 8% responded "knew."
It is clear that the industry trend of requests for exterior wall painting concentrating in spring and autumn, when temperatures and humidity are stable, is largely unknown to general homeowners.

Next, we asked what impact they thought requesting during the peak season would have.
The most common response was "construction periods are likely to be delayed" at 57.5%.
This was followed by "costs tend to be higher" at 56%, and "it becomes difficult to make reservations for desired dates and times" at 45.8%.
It is clear that during peak seasons, several inconveniences often arise, such as construction delays, increased costs, and difficulty in booking desired dates. It is important to consider these points in advance and make requests strategically.
■81.3% responded that they "want to avoid the peak season and request during the off-peak season."
Next, we asked if they would prefer to avoid the peak season and request exterior wall painting during the off-peak season.
As a result, 41% responded "strongly agree" and 40.3% responded "somewhat agree," totaling 81.3% of people who wish to request during the off-peak season. On the other hand, 9% responded "not really agree" and 9.8% responded "not at all agree," indicating that about 20% of people do not care about the timing.
We asked for the reasons behind each response, and some are introduced below.

Many of those who wish to request during the off-peak season cited two reasons: "want to save money" and "want careful work." Concerns that work might become sloppy due to contractors and craftsmen having less余裕 during peak season were prominent.
On the other hand, those who do not wish to request during the off-peak season said things like "should do it when necessary" and "cannot choose the timing in an emergency." These are realistic opinions that in urgent cases such as wall cracks or leaks, there is no time to worry about whether it is the peak season.
■64.5% responded that they "do not understand" the advantages and disadvantages of the off-peak season.
Next, we asked how well they understood the advantages and disadvantages of requesting during the off-peak season.
As a result, "do not understand much" was the most common at 42%, and combined with "do not understand at all" at 22.5%, it became clear that 64.5% of people do not understand the off-peak season well.
"Understand somewhat" was 28.3%, and "understand very well" was only 7.3%.
We asked what main advantages and disadvantages they knew, and some are introduced below.

The three main advantages many people cited for the off-peak season were: "costs can be kept down," "easier to make reservations," and "can expect careful workmanship." There were also expectations that contractors would have more time, making them more receptive to client requests.

Disadvantages mainly centered on concerns about weather risks during the off-peak seasons of summer and winter. Many people worried that high temperatures in mid-summer, prolonged rain during the rainy season, or low temperatures and snow in winter might affect the quality of painting.

Finally, we asked what kind of information or advice would make them feel secure in requesting a contractor when deciding the timing of exterior wall painting.

Considering that the majority of people don't even know when the peak season is, it seems necessary to provide basic information carefully from the start.
■Summary
This survey revealed that only 8% of people knew that spring is the peak season for exterior wall painting. On the other hand, over 80% responded that they wish to request during the off-peak season, indicating a high level of interest in cost and quality.
However, only about 35% of people fully understood the advantages and disadvantages of the off-peak season, highlighting the current situation where many people are making decisions with insufficient information.
When considering exterior wall painting, gathering information in advance about seasonal cost differences and weather risks, and then consulting with a reliable contractor to decide the timing of the request, may be the first step towards a satisfactory finish.
