■Memories of Randoseru and Awareness of School Enrollment Preparation
When preparing for elementary school enrollment, many people probably first think of choosing a randoseru. Because it is something used every day for six years, many families are particular about its color, design, and material.
On the other hand, memories associated with randoseru vary by generation.
There was a time when "black for boys and red for girls" was the norm, but now there is a rich variety of colors, expanding the joy of children choosing for themselves.
Therefore, in collaboration with Rarachan Randoseru, we conducted a survey on "Memories and Awareness of Randoseru and Preparation for School Enrollment" targeting 206 men and women nationwide who responded in a preliminary survey that they had "experienced choosing a child's randoseru."

First, we asked whether respondents remembered the randoseru they themselves used.

16.0% said "I remember clearly," and 35.0% said "I vaguely remember," totaling 51.0% of respondents who have memories of their own randoseru. On the other hand, 20.4% said "I don't remember much," and 28.6% said "I hardly remember."
We asked what impressed them about the color and design, and some responses are introduced below.
Please tell us what impressed you about the color and design.
・Green. No one else around me used it. (20s, Male)
・It was made of cowhide, light, and the flap was a bit wrinkled and soft. The color was a slightly dark red. (20s, Female)
・I wanted a pastel color. (40s, Female)
・It was customizable. (40s, Male)

While some vividly remember choosing a color different from others or even the texture of the material, others recalled a time when there were almost no choices. Compared to recent trends of customization and pastel colors, it is clear that randoseru culture has changed significantly.

・They want to choose it themselves. Colors and designs are so abundant now. (40s, Female)
・Because it's the child's first big purchase. (60s, Male)
In addition to the special feeling of using it for a long period of six years, the experience itself of being involved in a major purchase by their own will for the first time in their life seems to make randoseru selection special.
■77.2% Responded That Their Child "Participated in Randoseru Selection"
Next, we asked whether the child themselves participated in choosing their randoseru.

The result was 77.2% for "participated" and 22.8% for "did not participate."
