[OPTISHAPE-TS2026 New Features] Automation functions and generic plug-ins significantly streamline design work

In recent years, design and development in the manufacturing industry have strongly demanded lightweighting and higher performance within short timeframes. To meet this demand, 'OPTISHAPE-TS2026' has newly incorporated an 'Automation' function into its dedicated GUI, TS Studio, which dramatically improves the efficiency of design work. It streamlines the series of post-processing tasks previously performed manually, strongly supporting the promotion of DX on the design floor.

Furthermore, 'center of gravity position', which controls the balance of the product, and a 'generic plug-in' that allows users to use defined evaluation criteria, have been added as evaluation functions for topology optimization. This enables flexible and precise optimization even for increasingly complex requirement specifications.

The objective function of 'center of gravity position', which was previously available only in non-parametric shape optimization, can now also be used in topology optimization.

Makoto Shimada, OPTISHAPE-TS Product Leader at the Technology Development Department of Quint Corporation, expressed his thoughts on the development: 'Structural optimization tools are not necessarily something that designers use every single day. That is precisely why we aimed for a level of perfection as a "tool" that allows even users who only touch it when necessary to intuitively reach their desired shape without getting lost in how to operate it.'

Based on this philosophy, the GUI 'TS Studio' has made steady progress, reflecting the voices of users. Post-processing functions that allow immediate confirmation of manufacturing requirements have been enhanced, such as a revamped video generation function to visualize the optimization process, the addition of an animated GIF output function perfect for reports, and a draft angle confirmation function during 'undercut' evaluation, which is important during mold design. In addition, by accumulating operational improvements at the practical level, such as material preset registration and batch deletion of duplicate materials, we have realized an environment that can be utilized without stress by a wide range of users, from dedicated analysts to general designers.

The figure above is an example of the result of non-parametric shape optimization minimizing volume, with constraints on Mises stress and deviation volume for two subcases.

What is OPTISHAPE-TS?
It is a world-class non-parametric structural optimization software developed by Quint Corporation. Utilizing various methods such as topology optimization, shape optimization, and bead optimization, it automatically derives the 'ideal shape' based on mathematical grounds to maximize product rigidity, control natural frequency, and realize lightweighting. Its control functions, which can consider the meticulous manufacturing requirements unique to Japanese Monozukuri (manufacturing), have gained extremely high trust from engineers in a wide range of fields including automotive, aerospace, precision equipment, and construction machinery.

About Quint Corporation
Headquarters: Fuchu, Tokyo. Since its establishment in 1985, it is a pioneering, long-established software maker in the domestic structural analysis industry that has continued to independently develop unique CAE software in-house, such as structural optimization and image-based structural analysis. With a prompt and meticulous support system unique to a purely domestic vendor and ingenious simulation technology, it has continued to lead design innovation and the improvement of technological competitiveness in Japan's manufacturing industry for 40 years.

About Newton Works Corporation
Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo. President & CEO: Toshikazu Yamanashi. It is an independent engineering solution provider that supports the manufacturing industry with advanced technical capabilities, centering its business on CAE (Computer Aided Engineering). The company's strength lies in its ability to provide comprehensive solutions covering all phases of product development, from FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis, which precisely captures the physical behavior of products from a micro perspective, to 1D-CAE (system simulation), which macro-models the behavior of the entire system in the upstream process.

Another major feature is that it develops its own software suite 'NewtonSuite', which condenses the know-how cultivated through years of support and consulting, rather than remaining just a software vendor. In addition to selling these latest software products, they provide one-stop services ranging from advanced analysis consulting by experienced engineers to contract analysis and specialized technical training.
