[AMSTERDAM] Stellantis (NYSE: STLA) has announced plans for a strategic initiative with Accenture (NYSE: ACN) to deploy AI-powered digital twins across its global manufacturing footprint, leveraging NVIDIA's technology. This initiative will enable Stellantis to accelerate transformation in manufacturing and production operations, placing data-driven technologies at its core.
The project brings together Stellantis’ deep expertise in manufacturing, Accenture’s knowledge in physical AI and digital transformation in manufacturing, and NVIDIA’s high-performance computing and Omniverse libraries, aiming to create next-generation virtual manufacturing environments powered by real-time data and AI.
Statement from Francesco Ciancia, Chief Manufacturing Officer, Stellantis:
"We are building the foundation for next-generation manufacturing at Stellantis. By combining digital twins, AI, and advanced simulation, we are redefining how we design, operate, and continuously improve our production systems. This initiative enhances our ability to detect early signs of challenges in close collaboration with our shop floor teams, driving faster decision-making and continuous improvement. Together with Accenture and NVIDIA, we are striving to realize more intelligent operations at scale across the enterprise."
Statement from Tracy Countryman, Global Lead, Supply Chain & Engineering, Accenture:
"Manufacturing today demands the integration of AI across increasingly complex operations to deliver measurable business value. Through its partnership with Accenture, Stellantis is leveraging NVIDIA’s computing and simulation technologies to accelerate the reinvention of manufacturing. Together, we are leading the industry into a new era of intelligent and advanced operations."
Accelerating the Shift to Intelligent Manufacturing
This initiative marks a significant step toward realizing Stellantis’ strategy of building adaptive, efficient, and resilient production systems, with digital twins at the heart of transformation.
Stellantis will use high-fidelity virtual factories to optimize operations in real time based on AI-driven insights. By validating processes before physical implementation, the company aims to shorten lead times for production ramp-ups, improve quality through predictive monitoring, and reduce risks across manufacturing operations.
The initiative is initially planned for pilot deployment at select facilities. Starting with a North American pilot rollout in 2026, Stellantis will build the foundation to evaluate value creation and scalability across its broader production network.
Convergence of Industry Expertise and Advanced Technology
The three companies are combining complementary strengths in manufacturing, AI, and high-performance computing. Specifically, they are integrating Stellantis’ proven global manufacturing operations and automotive domain expertise, Accenture’s knowledge and execution capabilities in AI and digital transformation, and NVIDIA’s advanced simulation, physical AI, and high-performance computing technologies.
The partners aim to achieve closed-loop optimization, where virtual and real-world manufacturing systems evolve together through mutual feedback via AI-integrated digital twins. Additionally, dynamic throughput optimization under integrated AI agent control, supported by physics-based quality control and predictive maintenance, will underpin these efforts.
Building the Foundation for Data-Driven, AI-Powered Manufacturing
By integrating digital twin technology with AI, Stellantis is advancing the development of a new manufacturing operations model. This model is designed to be both predictive and autonomous, leveraging real-time data and simulation to seamlessly deploy and utilize insights across all its factories worldwide.
This approach supports Stellantis’ comprehensive vision of software-defined manufacturing (SDM), accelerating transformation cycles, enhancing flexibility, and strengthening sustainable competitive advantage.
Stellantis is advancing a long-term strategy to modernize manufacturing operations and continuously elevate productivity, quality, and efficiency across its global business footprint. As part of this, the company will continue to accelerate the evaluation and evolution of this initiative in collaboration with Accenture and NVIDIA.
