To assist Taiwanese enterprises in expanding business opportunities in friendly nation Paraguay and neighboring South American markets, TAITRA led 28 Taiwanese companies in participating in 'Expo Paraguay 2026' from July 11 to 26. A total of 23 companies exhibited physically, setting a new record for Taiwan's largest-ever participation. This not only highlights the strong momentum of Taiwanese enterprises actively expanding into the South American market but also reflects that Taiwan-Paraguay economic and trade relations have entered their closest 'golden era' to date, reinforcing Taiwanese enterprises' high confidence in the region's growth potential.

The Taiwan Pavilion held a grand opening ceremony on July 14, jointly inaugurated by Ambassador Lee Yueh-jung of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Paraguay and Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce Marco Riquelme, along with several other cabinet ministers and legislators. The event featured performances by electric San-Tai-Zi and lion dancers, skillfully blending cultural imagery with a business exhibition atmosphere, successfully creating a vibrant exchange environment and showcasing Taiwan's cultural soft power and international appeal.

This year's Taiwan Pavilion precisely targeted the South American market, focusing on 'Sustainable Agriculture' and 'Biotech Health,' and facilitated multiple significant business opportunities. In sustainable agriculture, riding the global green agriculture trend, first-time exhibitors Qun-Geng Agriculture and Ju-Sheng Oils & Fats jointly showcased innovative non-toxic plant protection materials. Manager Liu pointed out that, through introductions by Taiwan's technical mission in Paraguay, initial cooperation talks are currently underway with Paraguay's Ministry of Agriculture, demonstrating the potential of Taiwan's green agricultural technology.

The Taiwan Pavilion also actively responded to the core spirit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' 'Prosperity Alliance Program,' transforming policy cooperation into concrete industrial showcase highlights. The Taiwan Pavilion service desk presented bilateral cooperation achievements across four areas: green urban transportation, public health capacity, technology talent cultivation, and agricultural diversification.

The 'Taiwan-Paraguay Smart Technology Park' zone was also fully upgraded, inviting进驻 enterprises such as Chengyun Motor and Gao Si Chair Industry to jointly exhibit. By sending personnel to interact with visitors during the exhibition, attendees gained intuitive insights into the development outcomes and industrial cluster advantages of companies进驻 in the park. This not only expanded promotional benefits for investment attraction but also further deepened the vision of bilateral cooperation in the smart industry sector.

Beyond business exchanges, this year's Taiwan Pavilion adopted 'Night Market Culture Experience' as its marketing theme, launching a limited-time delicacy 'Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang' using local Paraguayan ingredients, successfully attracting large crowds to stop and taste, driving sustained increases in foot traffic. Notably, the 'Electric Bus Model Food Truck,' modeled after Chengyun Motor's electric bus, became a major attraction in the area. The installation serves as an interactive photo-op spot, showcasing the successful deployment and operation of Taiwan's electric buses in Paraguay.

Expo Paraguay is the country's largest and most important international business event, covering industries such as agricultural machinery, food processing, and livestock equipment. According to Taiwan's customs statistics, benefiting from the 'Taiwan-Paraguay Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) Resolution No. 8,' effective July 2025, 17 products including pork and wheat flour received tariff reductions, effectively driving rapid bilateral trade growth. In 2025, the total Taiwan-Paraguay trade volume reached USD 406 million, a year-on-year increase of 66.78%, more than five times higher than pre-ECA levels in 2018, demonstrating tangible results from trade liberalization.

Looking ahead, TAITRA hopes to continue supporting Taiwanese enterprises in deeply establishing themselves in Paraguay and Latin American markets through overseas market expansion and industry promotion activities, creating long-term, win-win business opportunities.
