The Asia Biotech Expo held its opening ceremony today (16th). During his speech, Premier Chou Ying-Tai pointed out that the Executive Yuan has included the biotech and medical industry as one of the 13 key strategic industries for the nation. The focus will be on three development directions: AI integration, data consolidation, and drug resilience, aiming to increase private investment by over NT$100 billion by 2030.

Chou Ying-Tai mentioned that the total investment in the biotech and medical industry in 2025 will reach NT$550 billion, with the National Development Fund investing in 256 companies and a total investment amount of NT$340 billion. He also pointed out that the total revenue of the biotech and medical industry in 2025 will reach NT$805 billion, with expectations of continued significant growth in the future.

Chou Ying-Tai mentioned that based on the three development indicators of AI integration, data consolidation, and drug resilience, related detailed plans have been derived. These include the establishment of a tumor antigen identification platform, the landing of new cancer drugs, a smart healthcare information platform, and the promotion of health data companies.

Chou Ying-Tai further explained the goals, hoping to reduce the hospitalization rate and emergency rate by 7.5% by 2028, complete the establishment of a quality indicator platform for cancer, and collect data on 1,600 important diseases. By 2030, the goal is to establish a large family medicine platform, providing services to 5,700 medical institutions, and hoping that the data interoperability rate of medical institutions will reach 100%, fully integrating data.

Chou Ying-Tai mentioned that he hopes that with the specific development of the industry, the goal is to increase private investment by over NT$100 billion by 2030 and strive for international orders worth US$250 million. He also pointed out that if the indicators for 2028 and 2030 can be achieved, it means that the biotech and medical industry will enter another peak of growth.
