New Innovations Inc. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; Representatives: Keito Nakao, Tsutomu Yamada; hereinafter "New Innovations") announced that its AI drawing management system "Zumen Bank," which inherits manufacturing knowledge, has been introduced at Showa Seiko Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative: Yasutaka Kida; hereinafter "Showa Seiko"), a comprehensive manufacturer of press dies. An interview article detailing the company's background and effects of the introduction has also been published.

◼️Background of Introduction

Showa Seiko is a comprehensive manufacturer of press dies, designing and producing dies used in automobiles, food containers, and lithium-ion batteries. While there are many opportunities to refer to drawings of past parts and similar products, challenges such as "unable to search by drawing number" and "inconsistent notation in name searches leading to no hits" made it time-consuming and laborious to find necessary information.

Furthermore, with cases where the same product is processed several months or even years later, the lack of centralized management of past processing information, drawings, and jig information led to inconsistencies in information retrieval, affecting productivity and quality stability.

Against this backdrop, during the consideration of introducing a drawing management service, "Zumen Bank" was chosen for its fast search speed, high operability, and intuitive usability even for on-site workers.

◼️Changes and Results After Introduction

1. Promotion of Information Sharing and Reduction of Defects

An environment for quick access to processing history and work procedures has been established, allowing immediate reference to past processing details.

This has significantly reduced hesitation and inconsistencies in judgment during processing. It has led to a reduction in defects, stabilization of quality, and improvement in work efficiency. Moreover, the awareness of "leaving rules and defects in Zumen Bank" is spreading on-site, contributing to the elimination of reliance on specific individuals and speeding up information sharing.

2. Promotion of Standardization through Centralized Management of Related Information

Jigs used, work videos, 3D models, defect records, and processing rules are linked to drawings and centrally managed. Furthermore, a system has been built where QR codes are attached to drawings, allowing instant access from on-site scanners. This has created an environment where necessary information can be found without confusion, promoting standardization of work procedures and uniformity of quality.

◼️What is Zumen Bank?

Zumen Bank is a cloud-based drawing management system for the manufacturing industry, released in response to feedback from New Innovations' manufacturing clients.

In the manufacturing industry, there is a high need to "search for and refer to similar past drawings" during quotation creation and parts processing, but businesses face challenges in managing vast amounts of documents. "Zumen Bank" stores and manages drawings and related documents (quotations, various technical documents, CAD/CAM files, etc.) linked in the cloud, and utilizes AI to instantly search for similar shapes from thousands or tens of thousands of past drawings. This enables access to necessary information and past data without relying on specific personnel, leading to expected business efficiency improvements, achieving a 40% reduction in time and labor costs for searching drawings*.

※According to New Innovations research

No software installation is required; it can be easily used from a browser on a PC or tablet, and is available from 48,000 yen (excluding tax) per month.
