Neverland Inc. (Location: Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Haruhiko Moriyama) will launch the "Ichien Project™︎", a practical entrepreneurship and management after-school program for elementary school students (3rd grade) to junior high school students (3rd grade), in Kamakura starting Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The Ichien Project is based on the concept of "earning one yen with what you love." Children practice a series of processes: planning, procurement, development, marketing, sales, and reflection. Once a month, they gain experience delivering value to customers with their own efforts by actually opening a stall at a local market.

Applications for monitor participants are currently being accepted for the May start! (Program information sessions are being held sequentially throughout April.)

■️What is the Ichien Project™︎? —— An entrepreneurship and financial education program that lets you earn with your "passion"

The Ichien Project is a practical after-school program for elementary school students (3rd grade) to junior high school students (3rd grade), where children start a business from their "passion" and actually deliver it in the city of Kamakura. While exhibiting at a monthly market, they practice the business processes of planning, procurement, development, marketing, and sales together with local adults. They use real money and deliver to real customers. The feeling of "I earned money doing what I wanted!" leads to a foundation of confidence and security for living authentically.

1. Features of the Ichien Project

① Experience of "starting your own" instead of "being employed"

In vocational experiences like KidZania, participants "experience" pre-arranged roles. In contrast, with the Ichien Project, children think from scratch about "what to deliver, to whom to deliver, and at what price" – and run it as their own business. It is an experience of "starting and managing your own business" rather than being employed.

② Real business, not a simulation

They use real money and deliver to real customers. This is not a closed space. At the monthly market stalls, they actually deliver the planned products and services to local people and earn compensation through their own efforts. This "small but real one yen" creates a lifelong confidence of "I did it myself!"

③ The entire community is the stage — leveraging the power of the town to bring ideas to life

It's not learning confined to a classroom; instead, children bring their "wants" to life by leveraging the power of Kamakura's shops, businesses, and local adults. They meet mentors, collaborators, and friends, and embark on an adventure with the entire town as their learning field.

④ It's okay to fail. Find your "true self" through dialogue and collaboration.

It's okay if things don't sell or don't go well. Children can try again and again, watched over by their teammates and local adults. Through dialogue, sharing roles, and advancing projects while leveraging each other's strengths, a sense of "it's okay to be myself" is fostered.

2. Gradual Growth through 3 Courses

We offer three courses tailored to children's growth and motivation.

Currently, only the Starter Course is open. Applications for the Challenge Course and Business Course will begin sequentially as preparations are completed.

▶︎ Starter Course (First 3 months)

Teams exhibit at a market and experience the basics of product development, marketing, and sales over three months, learning how to sell products (market-in thinking).

▶︎ Challenge Course (3 months~)

Plan and operate one project independently. Seriously challenge the "things you want to do" found in the Starter Course and learn how to bring your ideas to life (product-out thinking).

▶︎ Business Course (6 months~)

Involve peers, create systems, and continue to expand projects. Engage in content similar to real-world business, such as recruitment and marketing.

※Advancement to each course is based on the individual's decision of "what they want to do," not on tests or external evaluations.

■️Starter Course Curriculum

In the Starter Course, over three months from May 6 to July 29, participants will practice the entire process from planning to sales three times, through a total of three sales opportunities.

※The following flow may be subject to change.

■️Comments from Past Participants

Reina Iizuka / Resident of Kamakura (Mother of two)

The Ichien Project has become the best place for my son to learn and practice. It was very impressive to see my son, who loves money, talk with sparkling eyes, saying, "Learning about money was super, super, super interesting!" He eagerly shares what he learns at home, and I strongly feel his growth. The presence of friendly and fun instructors is also significant, and as a parent, I am truly happy that a new place has been created in Kamakura.

Daisuke Hirata / Resident of Kamakura (Father of two)

Participating in the Ichien Project, I saw two children with different personalities find their own ways to enjoy and engage, becoming absorbed in it, and felt the excitement of this initiative. What surprised me as a parent was that even without prepared answers, the children naturally started to get involved from their own interests and developed a desire to delve deeper. I believe that the accumulation of these small experiences can be the first step for children to encounter society and take on challenges in the real world.

■️Supporters' Comments

Asami Mizusawa / Representative, Certified NPO Kamakura Asobi Kichi

Children find sparkling learning opportunities within their communities and daily lives, and if there are adults who believe in and support them, children can grow independently. If they have real experiences where they can rely on others when in trouble and contribute to society with what they can do, wouldn't their future be rich and enjoyable? Let's adults share the excitement in "Neverland" together with the children!

Eishi Iwatani / Manager, Love Ramen Noodle Shop (Father of two)

I have been closely observing the activities of the Ichien Project since its inception. I will continue to support IchiPro (short for Ichien Project) from the closest possible distance as it finally takes shape and officially begins! The entire Love Ramen Noodle Group will always cooperate to make Kamakura a city where children's dreams come true. I sincerely support you. Let's make it a success together!!

Representative's Comment

Haruhiko Moriyama / Representative Director, Kodomo Hojin Neverland

The name "Ichien" has two meanings. One is the currency "one yen." Not a large sum, but the first small one yen earned by their own efforts becomes a big step of confidence for children. The other is "one bond" (一縁, also pronounced Ichien). For children to live authentically and freely, it is crucial how many relationships they can have where they can be themselves. Through this project, I hope that children will foster each and every such "relationship where they can connect as their true selves" from a young age. That is the wish embedded in this name.
