NetApp and Elastio Announce Partnership to Deliver Multi-Layered Defense Resilience Against Ransomware

NetApp, LLC (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Executive Officer and President: Chiharu Saito) - Intelligent data infrastructure company NetApp® (NASDAQ: NTAP) and Elastio today announced a partnership to provide multi-layered defense resilience against ransomware.

Security teams must prepare for threats at every layer of the technology stack, including ransomware that silently traverses production environments and lurks in snapshots and backups before being detected. Advanced ransomware is designed to evade existing prevention tools, moving through production environments below detection thresholds and reaching backup data before alerts are triggered. Through this partnership, NetApp and Elastio will help companies strengthen their cyber resilience with multi-layered defense covering everything from production storage to recovery data.

The two companies will integrate Elastio's Provable Recovery Control, branded as "Powered by Elastio," into the NetApp Ransomware Resilience Service, adding Deep File Inspection for snapshots. This will enable end-to-end resilience, leveraging recovery points that are continuously verified as "clean" from ransomware detection to recovery.

New Layer of Defense in NetApp Ransomware Resilience Service ■NetApp Ransomware Resilience Service Detects and contains ransomware in real-time at the data layer, takes immutable snapshots, and guides recovery. It also continuously assesses the ransomware protection status across the entire ONTAP® environment. Includes behavioral detection by Autonomous Ransomware Protection (ARP).

Elastio Provable Recovery Control Detects zero-day ransomware that bypasses perimeter defenses, incrementally embedded malware, and stealthy data corruption through Deep File Inspection of ONTAP snapshots. It continuously identifies the last confirmed clean recovery point without requiring agents.

This collaboration integrates Elastio Provable Recovery Control directly into the NetApp Ransomware Resilience Service without requiring additional procurement or architectural changes. This further enhances the cyber resilience for both companies' customers.

Availability The NetApp Ransomware Resilience Service with Elastio (Powered by Elastio) is scheduled to be available in the near future, initially for Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, with subsequent expansion to other ONTAP environments. Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP is a fully managed cloud service based on NetApp's widely used ONTAP file system, providing file storage with high reliability, scalability, performance, and rich features.
