NEC Platforms Launches "UNIVERGE MT600" Application to Internalize Smartphones

NEC Platforms today announced the launch of "UNIVERGE MT600," a communication application that allows smartphones to be used as internal extensions.

This application works in conjunction with the communication DX-compatible gateway "UNIVERGE Aspire 6" to create a communication environment where internal calls can be made while moving around within offices, factories, logistics warehouses, stores, and other on-site locations, in addition to office main lines and department main lines. It also includes a mode compatible with nurse call integration, required in medical and nursing care facilities, supporting smooth communication in a wide range of business environments.

[Background]

In recent years, companies and medical institutions have increasingly recognized the need for communication environments that are not dependent on location or device, driven by diversifying work styles and the need for operational efficiency. To address this challenge, we have developed "UNIVERGE MT600" as a new UC (Unified Communications) platform utilizing smartphones.

[Product Overview]

"UNIVERGE MT600" is an application that provides internal extension functionality on smartphones. By integrating with "UNIVERGE Aspire 6," it achieves the following:

- Utilizes smartphones as internal extension terminals

- Communication environment using on-premises wireless LAN

- Supports multiple modes (Multi-line Mode / Single-line Mode / Single-line Mode [Nurse Call Integration]) with a single application

[Features of UNIVERGE MT600]

Users can select from three modes – Multi-line Mode, Single-line Mode, and Single-line Mode [Nurse Call Integration] – according to their usage scenario.

1. Transitioning operation of multi-function phones and PHS to smartphones (Multi-line Mode)

The UNIVERGE MT600 application can display function keys, enabling smartphone-based call handling in environments with multiple incoming calls and transfers, such as operating main lines or shared department numbers, just like a multi-function phone. Furthermore, internal operations previously handled by on-premises PHS can be replaced by using smartphones as internal extension terminals within the on-premises wireless LAN environment.

Additionally, by connecting headquarters and branches using VPN services, multi-function phones and smartphones can be used as internal extension terminals at branch locations. Features such as main line incoming calls, virtual extensions, and park-hold (Note 1) can be utilized, simultaneously achieving reduced equipment costs and simplified operations.

2. Enabling internal call functionality in "dynamic work sites" such as factories and stores (Single-line Mode)

In environments where staff move around their work areas, such as factories, logistics warehouses, and stores, smartphones can be used for making and receiving external and internal calls. This reduces the effort required for calls and transfers, contributing to faster information sharing on-site. Furthermore, by installing the mobile internal extension adapter "UNIVERGE BX500" (Note 2), smartphones can be used as internal extension terminals in LTE/5G environments, both inside and outside the premises.

3. Supporting notification and calling tasks in medical and nursing care facilities (Single-line Mode [Nurse Call Integration])

The nurse call mode supports the operation of notification and calling tasks required in medical and nursing care facilities. The design is suitable for tasks where on-site staff respond while moving, contributing to rapid situation sharing and efficient response.

The UNIVERGE MT600 application will be available for download from the App Store or Google Play Store starting July 3, 2026.

(Note 1) Park-hold is a function that allows shared access to calls on hold by system telephones. By pressing the park-hold button set on a multi-function phone, calls can be placed on hold and retrieved.
