Naoshima Cultural Village Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce major exhibition updates and facility renewals at Benesse House Museum and Benesse House Park (Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery: Time Corridors) on Naoshima Island, effective March 2026.
Following a maintenance period from January to March 2026, the facilities have reopened with significant artistic additions. At the Benesse House Museum, Yoshihiro Suda's meticulously crafted wood carving 'Rose (Public Telephone Site)' has been newly installed at the site of a former public telephone. His existing work 'Weeds' has also been expanded with a new piece created specifically on Naoshima.
In Benesse House Park, the Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery: Time Corridors, which opened in 2022, underwent a partial renovation. Four pieces from Sugimoto's 'Brush Impression' series (2024) are now showcased. Furthermore, the lounge area has been renovated by the New Material Research Laboratory, led by Sugimoto himself. The outdoor Glass Tea House 'Mondrian' now features night lighting, offering a new way to experience the art after sunset.
These updates align with the 2025 opening of the Naoshima New Museum of Art, reinforcing Naoshima's status as a premier global destination for contemporary art. Please note that admission fees for the Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery are scheduled to be revised on June 1, 2026.
