Background of Integration: Connecting Historic "Brand Names" and "Bonds with the Community" to the Future
In recent years, the shortage of successors for small and medium-sized enterprises has become a serious issue nationwide, posing a challenge to the survival of long-established companies rooted in their communities. While M&A is becoming common as a business succession method for SMEs struggling with successor shortages, issues such as "the disappearance of long-loved brand names after acquisition" and "weakening of relationships with the community" arise. Furthermore, in light of recent media reports on improper business succession, many local communities and employees harbor anxiety about M&A itself.
We believe that business succession is not merely a transfer of capital, but an endeavor to pass on trust relationships and history with the community to the next generation. Therefore, the most important aspect of this integration was to continue the brand names, signs, and brands of each company that have been loved by local customers for many years. Although they will become one corporation, the names "Nushiyo Butsudan-ten," "Nakamura Sekizai-ten," and "Miyamoto Butsudan-ten" will continue to be used for local customers as before, and the brand value and trust cultivated in the community will be carefully inherited.
Purpose of Integration: Strengthening the Management Base and Enhancing Group Collaboration
The new company, "Mirai Co., Ltd.," will integrate back-office (administrative) functions such as finance, accounting, human resources, recruitment, system management, advertising, product procurement, and education/training, while also promoting digitalization. This will improve management efficiency by leveraging economies of scale and significantly strengthen investment in human resource development and service quality improvement. While thoroughly strengthening the "behind-the-scenes mechanisms," the "front-end customer touchpoints" such as store names and specialized technologies will be maintained, providing more secure and high-quality services as a comprehensive regional platform in the end-of-life and memorial domain.
Commitment to the Local Community
There will be no changes to the operating structure of each store, existing after-sales services, or policies regarding participation in local events and traditional activities due to this integration. With the inheritance of the trust relationships built with customers by each company as our top priority basic policy, we will practice sustainable business operations while fulfilling our social responsibility as companies nurtured by the community for many years.
Comments from Hidekazu Hayashi, Representative Director of Nagoya Holdings Co., Ltd.
"Nushiyo Butsudan-ten, Nakamura Sekizai-ten, and Miyamoto Butsudan-ten have built long histories in their respective regions and have been supported by many customers. We wish to preserve that history and those brand names for the future with respect. While strengthening our management base, we aim to remain beloved local institutions. This is precisely the form of business succession that the Nagoya Holdings Group seeks.
We believe that corporate value is formed not only by immediate sales and profits, but also by trust from the community, pride of employees, and the aspirations of the founders. Moving forward, under our management philosophy of 'From Family Business to Enterprise, and then to a Long-Established Business,' our group will practice group management that sincerely engages with the local community and work to build a sustainable business succession model in the Tokai region.
