Nagoya Diamond Dolphins host 'Let's Protect Together! Traffic Safety Class' as part of Basketball ACTION

On Friday, May 22, as part of the 'B.LEAGUE Hope x Nippon Life: Let's Energize the Region! Basketball ACTION' initiative, we held the 'Let's Protect Together! Traffic Safety Class' for 120 students at Nagoya City Higashisakura Elementary School, with the cooperation of the Aichi Prefectural Police.

Spring is a season when children's range of activity expands and traffic accidents are more likely to occur. In urban areas in particular, issues include carelessness when crossing streets and sudden darting into roads.
This event was held with the goal of helping children learn traffic rules while having fun and 'nurturing the ability to protect themselves.' During the event, officers from the Aichi Prefectural Police used actual bicycles to provide easy-to-understand explanations on 'the correct way to ride a bicycle,' basic traffic rules for cycling, the importance of wearing helmets, and how to perform safety checks.
In addition, an experiential program was conducted where teachers demonstrated dangerous bicycle behavior, allowing students to learn by seeing these hazardous situations.

After the event, we presented all participating students with 'reflective material' keychains, which are necessary for visibility at night—as explained by the police officers—and 'traffic safety drills' to help them continue learning in a fun way.

Comments from a 3rd Grade Student:
'Thank you for teaching us how to ride a bicycle. I was surprised to learn that bicycles are considered part of the vehicle category. From now on, I want to follow the rules and ride safely while being mindful of the people around me.'

Comments from a 4th Grade Student:
'I learned the importance of following traffic rules by remembering the keyword "Cycling." The teachers' demonstrations were easy to understand, and it was fun to learn. I will make sure to use the reflector properly.'

We will continue to work with local communities and related organizations to carry out ongoing traffic safety awareness activities, contributing to the realization of a regional society where children can live with peace of mind through improved traffic rule compliance and safety awareness.
