MyVoiceCom Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shintaro Shimizu) conducted its 6th internet survey on 'Salt and Sodium' from April 1st to 7th, 2026. We asked about images of salt, precautions taken, and usage of reduced-sodium products. We are pleased to announce the survey results.

◆Image of Salt/Sodium When asked about the image of salt/sodium (multiple answers), "leads to high blood pressure" was the most common at 69.3%. "Bad for health," "good for heatstroke prevention," and "suitable for food preservation" followed at around 30% each.

◆Degree of Carefulness About Salt/Sodium Intake Nearly 60% of respondents are careful about their salt/sodium intake, combining "very careful" and "somewhat careful." The proportion is higher among men in their 70s and women in their 60s and 70s.

◆Precautions Regarding Salt/Sodium Intake Precautions taken for salt intake (multiple answers) include "not consuming too many high-salt foods/dishes" at 46.5%, "trying to eat lightly flavored food" at 30.2%, and "avoiding or limiting use of condiments" and "choosing low-sodium products" in the 20% range.

◆Types of Salt Used at Home Types of salt used at home (multiple answers) are "table salt" at 58.8%, "natural/sea salt" at 41.2%, and "cooking salt" at 30.7%.

◆Purchased and Used Low-Sodium Products Over 50% of respondents currently purchase and use low-sodium products. The most purchased items (multiple answers) are "soy sauce" at 36.4%, "miso" at 22.2%, "salt" at 11.9%, and "pickles/umeboshi" and "dashi/mentsuyu" at just under 10% each.
