Adequacy of Rest

For those who feel they are getting enough rest, "getting enough" and "getting somewhat enough" combined account for less than 60%. In the group where sleep duration is "less than 7 to 9 hours," each category exceeds 70%.

On the other hand, those who feel they are not getting enough rest (total of "not getting enough" and "not getting much enough") are less than 20%. The proportion is higher in the group where sleep duration is "less than 5 hours."

 

Timing of Rest

Regarding the timing of rest (multiple responses), "taking rest during the day" was 36.9%, and "taking rest weekly" was 19.2%. "Not particularly decided" was 43.8%.

Among those who feel they are getting enough rest, the proportion of "taking rest during the day" is higher.

 

How Rest is Spent

Regarding how rest is spent (multiple responses), "sleeping, napping, dozing" was 57.4%, "relaxing without doing anything" was 47.3%, and "TV, videos, SNS, games" was 32.1%.

 

Many items had a higher proportion among women, with "enjoying favorite food/drinks" and "spending time alone quietly" showing particularly large gender differences.

"TV, videos, SNS, games" were higher among women aged 10-30, and "walking, strolling" were higher among men aged 70.

Satisfaction with the Quality of Rest

Regarding satisfaction with the current quality of rest, "satisfied" and "somewhat satisfied" combined account for less than 40%.

Those not satisfied (total of "not very satisfied" and "not satisfied") are over 30%, with higher proportions among men aged 40-50 and women aged 10-30.

 

In the group where sleep duration is "6 hours or more," the proportion of satisfied individuals exceeds that of dissatisfied individuals.

Especially in the "less than 7 to 9 hours" group, the proportion of satisfied individuals is about 60% each, which is high.

 

Reasons for Not Feeling Rested

When asked about the reasons for not feeling rested (multiple responses).

"Poor sleep quality" was 28.0%, while "high stress or worries," "not fully recovering even after resting / fatigue not gone," and "busy with work or studies, making it difficult to find time" were each over 20%.

 

"Busy with work or studies, making it difficult to find time" was the most common reason for men aged 10-50 and women aged 10-20. For women aged 30-40, "difficulty finding time due to household chores, childcare, or caregiving" was the top reason.

Among those who answered that they "do not get enough rest," "high stress or worries" and "busy with work or studies, making it difficult to find time" were the top two reasons.
