Craft Industry First: A Cross-Disciplinary 3-Party Collaboration Realized. M-StyleLuxe, Keym, and MY mama Launch Jointly Planned Fabrics

In the craft industry, it is rare for players from different fields to collaborate on product planning.

MY mama Inc. has realized a project to plan original fabrics and collaboration kits through a partnership of three parties active in the different fields of ribbons, cartonnage, and craft sales.

This initiative was made possible by MY mama Inc. consolidating projects that were previously progressing individually. It marks a new endeavor where fields that have never intersected before join hands.

A New Initiative: A 3-Party Collaboration

The following three parties are participating in this project: ・M-StyleLuxe (Ribbon Association) ・Keym Inc. (Cartonnage School Operator)

・MY mama Inc. (Planning and Sales of Craft Supplies)

Why Was This Project Born?

This plan originated from two projects that were initially proceeding on different tracks.

The effort with the Ribbon Association started with selecting which pattern to adopt from Liberty fabrics. In pursuit of the most beautifully shining pattern within the limited area of a ribbon, numerous meetings were held to achieve a nuanced color that could be enjoyed by everyone from children to adults.

Meanwhile, for the glitter broadcloth fabric, the collaboration developed from a search for a glitter fabric to combine with patterned fabrics used in cartonnage, which happened to match a material previously handled by MY mama Inc.

The original fabric was thick and somewhat unsuitable for cartonnage, so it was custom-ordered to be changed from a sheeting material to a more manageable broadcloth.

Furthermore, a suggestion from stakeholders of both projects that "the two fabrics would be more attractive when combined" was added, and adjustments were made to the color tones and balance so that they would harmonize whether used alone or together.

Two Fabrics Born from the Perspectives of Each Field

【 LIBERTY FABRICS Custom Order "Clair-Aude" 】

In the world of ribbons, Liberty has traditionally had a strong image of being "for babies and kids." However, inspired by MY mama Inc. CEO Kanie's desire for "adults to enjoy it," Ms. Yamaguchi began planning with the theme of "Liberty that naturally blends into adult fashion."

Chosen from a vast number of patterns was "Clair-Aude," which has the beauty of a delicate watercolor painting. Selected based on the criterion of "the most striking pattern in a limited area" for ribbon making, it is finished in a color that naturally fits into daily life and can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

【 Glitter Broadcloth Fabric "Keym Eclat" 】

A glitter fabric suitable for cartonnage was planned.

Designed with an elegant and understated glitter feel, intended to be combined with patterned fabrics. The glitter mixes gold and silver, devised to match both warm and cool colors.

Also, by custom-ordering it in broadcloth instead of the conventional sheeting, both ease of use and beauty of the finish were achieved.

When combining patterns and solids, the aim is to create a finish that is not too assertive, yet enhances the work.

Ms. Hagiya says, "Cartonnage is not yet a widely recognized field. I hope that through this project, more people will come to know its charm."

A Wide Range of Products Unique to a 3-Party Collaboration

MY mama Inc. will sell the planned fabrics and kits (with materials and instructions) for making hair accessories using the fabrics. In the future, the Ribbon Association plans to offer ribbon-making kits, and the cartonnage school plans to offer cartonnage kits.

Additionally, works by instructors belonging to both organizations will be released on social media starting March 28, 2026. This will introduce the charm of new handmade crafts to those who have not had the opportunity to engage with these fields before.
