Musashino University (Koto-ku, Tokyo; Nishitokyo-shi, Tokyo; President: Seiko Konishi) is currently working to improve the livability of its campuses. As part of these efforts, the university will launch a "100-Yen Breakfast Project" starting in April for its students at the "Lohas Cafe (Ariake)" and the student cafeteria (Musashino). This project is being implemented not only to provide economic support to students amidst ongoing price hikes but also to help them develop the habit of eating breakfast.
To implement this project, the university will open its on-campus cafes and cafeterias during the morning hours outside of regular business operations. We have developed breakfast-exclusive menus that consider nutritional balance. By having students pay 100 yen rather than providing the meals for free, we hope to create an opportunity for them to feel gratitude toward those who provide their food. Furthermore, we aim to encourage the habit of waking up a little earlier for breakfast, thereby helping students establish a healthy daily rhythm and contributing to a more fulfilling campus life.
Moving forward, the university will continue to create campuses where students can engage in more experiences and interactions, and feel a sense of appeal. Starting with this project, we plan to work on the effective use of vacant classrooms and the creation of spaces where students can interact with each other on a daily basis.
