Founded in 1924 with the ideal of character education based on Buddhist spirit, Musashino Women's Academy was established. Formerly Musashino Women's University, it was renamed Musashino University in 2003. Since becoming coeducational in 2004, it has promoted university reforms, developing into a comprehensive university with over 13,000 students across 13 faculties, 21 departments, 13 graduate schools, and a correspondence education division. Looking toward its 100th anniversary in 2024 and the future of 2050, the university is advancing reforms to cultivate creative talent.
