Founded in 1924 with the ideal of character education rooted in Buddhist principles, Musashino Women's College was established. Preceded by Musashino Women's University, it was renamed Musashino University in 2003. Since becoming co-educational in 2004, the university has promoted reforms, developing into a comprehensive institution with over 13,000 students across 13 faculties, 21 departments, 14 graduate schools, and a correspondence division. To foster creative talent for its 100th anniversary in 2024 and its future vision up to 2050, the university is advancing its reforms.
