Established Musashino Women's Academy in 1924, ideally aiming for character education rooted in the Buddhist spirit. Preceded by Musashino Women's University, it was renamed Musashino University in 2003. Since becoming coeducational in 2004, it has promoted university reforms and developed into a comprehensive university with over 13,000 students across 13 faculties, 21 departments, 13 graduate school research courses, and a correspondence education department. It is advancing university reforms to nurture creative talent for its 100th anniversary in 2024 and the future of 2050 beyond.
