SK Japan, Delivering Japanese Character Goods Worldwide, Revamps Accounting and Sales Management for its US Subsidiary

(Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Hironori Yao; hereinafter "SK Japan"), which plans and sells crane game prizes and character goods.

■ About SK Japan

SK Japan Co., Ltd. is involved in the planning and sales of crane game prizes and capsule toys handled at amusement facilities, as well as fancy goods for major general merchandise stores and character goods specialty stores. They also develop product planning for widely loved original characters such as "Debuneko" and "Chuken Mochi Shiba." In 2009, they established their US local subsidiary, "SKJ USA, INC.," in California, USA. Currently, they are expanding their business primarily through transactions with amusement facilities and other establishments in the United States.

■ Background

While the US business was growing steadily, accounting and sales management were primarily operated using spreadsheet software. As the business expanded, the following challenges became apparent:

・Careless mistakes, such as input and operation errors, became more frequent due to multiple people working on tasks, leading to missed invoice issuances.

・Due to personalized management using spreadsheet software, it was difficult to grasp and share accurate inventory levels and balances in real-time.

・There was a need to build a management system that met the standards required of a listed company.

Against this backdrop, "multibook" was introduced in January 2025 as a system to centrally manage orders, invoicing, inventory, and accounting for the US base.

■ Reasons for selecting "multibook"

The main reasons for selecting "multibook" are as follows:

・It supported multi-currency management (USD-denominated transactions) required for overseas transactions. Other systems were considered but were rejected because they could not handle USD-denominated management.

・It offered the prospect of automatic linkage of information from order receipt, delivery, inventory, invoicing, to accounting, eliminating duplicate entries and departmental silos.

・Since back-office operations for the US base are conducted from Japan, the system allowed screen operations in multiple languages, including Japanese.

■ Effects of implementation

After implementation, the following effects have been achieved in the US base operations:

・Compared to spreadsheet management, the operational burden has been significantly reduced, and errors have decreased.

・Data entered on the logistics side is seamlessly linked to the accounting side on the cloud system, enabling timely grasp of sales and inventory. This also made it easier for the accounting side to make forecasts, reducing instability associated with month-end balance finalization.

・The flowchart function visualizes work progress, allowing for a quick overview of project status.

■ Future Outlook

Based on the implementation and operational track record of "multibook" in the US, SK Japan is also considering the possibility of future expansion into other regions. Even as business environments change, such as an increase in the number of warehouses, the company plans to continue improving operations and further enhancing operational efficiency and management systems by leveraging the characteristics of cloud ERP, which can easily accommodate additional bases.
