M-Soft Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo) will exhibit the fresh concrete quality management system 'AI Slump Tracker,' co-developed with Obayashi Corporation, at the 8th International Construction & Surveying Exhibition (CSPI2026).

This system is a groundbreaking solution that uses a smartphone to capture the unloading process of concrete trucks, enabling AI to automatically measure the slump of the entire concrete batch in real time. It is currently being introduced at construction sites nationwide, achieving both full-batch quality control and labor reduction through digital transformation (DX) in fresh concrete management.

Background of the Development of 'AI Slump Tracker'

The slump of concrete, which indicates its workability, constantly changes due to time and temperature.

If the slump falls outside the acceptable range, it may cause defects such as poor filling or cold joints, risking the structural integrity and quality of the construction.

Traditionally, slump management has relied on periodic sampling tests or visual inspection by skilled workers. However, this 'point-based inspection' makes it difficult to quantitatively assess quality variations in untested portions. Moreover, visual checks require experienced personnel and significant manpower, posing major challenges.

To simultaneously achieve full-batch quality assurance and reduce on-site workload, Obayashi Corporation and M-Soft Co., Ltd. jointly developed this system.

Key Features of 'AI Slump Tracker'

Full-Batch Monitoring and Fully Automated Continuous Measurement

By simply capturing the concrete flowing down the chute of a concrete truck using a smartphone camera, AI powered by deep learning automatically determines the slump in real time. The system continuously measures the slump of every batch until the final load.

Immediate Alerts for Anomaly Prevention

When measurement values fall outside the target tolerance range, the system automatically detects anomalies and instantly sends warning messages to on-site personnel such as pouring supervisors and quality control managers via tablets.

Remote Monitoring via Cloud Integration

Measurement data is transmitted to the cloud every second, enabling real-time monitoring from remote locations. Changes in slump over time can be closely tracked from site offices or headquarters.

Three Key Benefits of Implementation

Ensuring Quality and Durability

By conducting 100% inspection, the system robustly guarantees the quality and durability of concrete structures.

Preventing Project Delays

By preventing concrete defects before they occur, the system reduces the risk of schedule delays caused by rework.

Reducing Management Costs

Automating visual inspections significantly reduces the human resources and time required for quality control.
