A year ago, Israel, with funding from the US and allies, launched the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF). This replaced the UN-coordinated distribution system with militarized food distribution sites across Gaza. The GHF ended after six months, but not before the violence left thousands dead or injured. MSF continues to treat many patients suffering from trauma and life-altering injuries caused by this violence. 'As MSF has documented with medical evidence, people seeking food in desperate, near-siege conditions were severely harmed by both targeted and indiscriminate violence,' says MSF Palestine activity manager Joan Tubau. Between June and October 2025, MSF confirmed at least 32 deaths and treated 1,885 wounded at its clinics in Al-Attar and Al-Mawasi. Patients recount horrific experiences. Karim, a former barber left with severe leg nerve damage, witnessed his friend executed. Another patient, Muhammad, shot nine times, struggles with chronic pain. Mustafa, a taxi driver from Rafah, recalls Israeli forces shooting at crowds from fixed positions. MSF urges Israel and the US not to repeat the militarization of humanitarian aid, which leads to severe violence.
