movel Inc. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representatives: Yuki Kawai, Takumi Uchibori; hereinafter "movel") is pleased to announce the release of the short drama "Anohi Bokura" (That Day, Us) on March 29th. This drama pays homage to the life stories of "Itsumen Fever," known as the legendary "Nettaiya" (Tropical Night) high school students, unraveling their journey.
This work was born from a reinterpretation of the journey of the legendary "Nettaiya" high school students, who gained significant attention on social media when a video recreating RIP SLYME's "Nettaiya" music video during their high school days recorded 14 million views on YouTube, and then again in 2025, more than 11 years after its initial release, when they posted an adult version of the video. The production team, consisting of movel and director Manabu Motoki, found a "fundamental message" that resonates with people amidst the twists and turns of their lives, their struggles, complex human relationships, and emotions fluctuating between hope and loneliness, from the time the high school video was released, through the adult version's release, to achieving their highest ever video playback count. This message was then woven into a short drama dedicated to "all dream chasers." Members of Itsumen Fever also appear in the drama as a crucial key to its unfolding.
In conjunction with the release of the short drama "Anohi Bokura," we introduce the behind-the-scenes story from the project's inception to its visualization.
◼︎From Encounter to Project Birth
The genesis of this work began with the encounter between Itsumen Fever members and movel CEO Kawai. After the release of the adult version of "Nettaiya," their past activities and the real human drama behind them became a major topic on social media. Kawai, deeply engrossed in their story, proposed, "I want to create a work with them that will support their future success," thus initiating the collaboration between the legendary "Nettaiya" high school students and movel.
Initially, due to the scale and uniqueness of the story, a feature-length documentary was considered. However, as the project progressed, it was decided to produce it as a short drama, movel's specialty. During the planning stage, the concept was repeatedly refined with the Itsumen Fever members. Through numerous dialogues, the themes narrowed down to "the power of music" and "friendship," which connect friends, past, and future, returning to the origin of their activities.
Furthermore, what emerged from delving deeply into the miracle of "ordinary high school students going viral enough to become an internet meme" and their subsequent life episodes was a universal sense of anxiety that anyone in their late 20s to 30s vaguely harbors: "Am I doing what I want to do?", "What do I even want to do?", "Is my life okay as it is?". The direction was solidified to create a work that evokes empathy and appeals to viewers' emotions, centered on the themes of "anxiety about reality" and "the power of music" and "friendship" to overcome it.
◼︎Thoughts and Commitment Behind the Visualization
【Message to Convey】
The goal of this work is to encourage viewers to "take a step forward tomorrow" through a drama that pays homage to Itsumen Fever's journey. In the final scene, the protagonist Koichi makes a choice, but the consistent message conveyed throughout the work is that "regardless of the outcome of our choices, we live each day supported by everyone we meet in the process of chasing our dreams—friends, comrades, family." Various commitments have been poured into the production and its process to deliver this message to the drama's viewers.
【A Short Drama Like a Short Film】
This work is thoroughly committed to visual storytelling that aims to express story and emotional shifts more realistically and delicately, and to evoke emotional immersion from viewers. Attention has been paid to every detail in filming, editing, and music insertion timings to convey subtle psychological descriptions, such as the pauses actors take in their acting and dialogue, and close-up shots of expressions. In casting, actors with previous co-starring experience were chosen to elicit more natural performances in emotionally charged scenes. Please pay attention to the craftsmanship of this short drama, which is different from the "typical short drama" that emphasizes dramatic development and tempo, instead drawing viewers deeply into the work like a short film.
【Intersection of Reality and Fiction】
The script for this work was written by a production staff member who has "experience chasing dreams amidst conflict," subtly infusing that reality into every line and direction. Furthermore, in Itsumen Fever's appearance scenes, actual SNS live streaming footage was incorporated as "the most natural gimmick for the real people to appear," pursuing a level of realism that makes viewers forget they are watching a short drama. On the other hand, based on the themes of "the power of music" and "friendship," the setting of a "band" was adopted to enhance the narrative, making it easier to understand and empathize with, and creating a mechanism for viewers to enjoy it as a work of fiction. The story becomes personal within a skillful balance of reality and fiction.

◼︎Itsumen Fever Comment
During the production process, which involved numerous dialogues, we were greatly stimulated by the team's passion. We are grateful for the connection with Mr. Kawai, everyone at movel, and the director. This work marks a major milestone for us, half a year after "Nettaiya Adult Version." Thank you to everyone who always supports us. Going forward, we plan to increase our new forms of activities, such as rice farming and DIY, which each of us is working on, and to share our real-life experiences that "if you have music and friends, you can always return to that day, and therefore you can fight alone," which is the future of the drama. We hope this work reaches many people.
movel CEO Yuki Kawai Comment
I hope this work serves as an opportunity for viewers to "face themselves" and "take a step forward," and that the "importance of friendship" is conveyed through this work. At the same time, I hope this work becomes a starting dash for "Itsumen Fever," with whom we have created this work, to further their future success. I express my gratitude to everyone who supported and was involved in this project and our encounter with them.
◼︎Director Manabu Motoki Comment
In this work, I thoroughly focused on "telling emotions through visuals" rather than relying solely on dialogue. The unexpected rain mixed with snow overlapped with the protagonist's pain of confronting his past, and by intentionally framing a "stop" sign, I visually emphasized the will to move forward without stopping. I expressed inner turmoil by giving meaning to subtle actions of the characters and elements in the background, such as the gesture of putting a guitar into its case (retreating into a shell), the distance to the guitar in the room, the contrast between the light of young people forming a band and the protagonist's shadow, and the spatial design. I hope that the accumulation of these details will create a work that offers new discoveries and emotions with each viewing.
