The RPR-0730 available at Mouser is an ultra-compact optical proximity sensor that utilizes a proprietary 940nm infrared IrVCSEL as a light source, paired with a high-speed phototransistor. This configuration provides superior directivity and lower power consumption compared to conventional LED-based solutions. It enables high-speed, high-precision detection, making it suitable for applications that were difficult for conventional digital output types, such as print detection in multifunction printers and label printers, as well as rotation detection for motors and gears. By adopting an analog output phototransistor, it achieves a response time of 10μs and can accurately identify fine lines as narrow as 0.1mm, outperforming conventional LED light sources.

The RPR-0730 features an ultra-compact package (2.0 × 1.0 × 0.55 mm³) and uses a resin that cuts visible light to minimize interference from ambient light and sunlight. This ensures stable detection even in environments with changing lighting conditions, such as factories or outdoors. Its small size allows for easy integration into space-constrained devices like conveyors and precision equipment, enabling a wide range of applications.
