Morita Holdings Corporation (Headquarters: Osaka Prefecture, CEO: Masayoshi Kato) has determined the winning entries for the "Future Fire and Disaster Prevention Idea Contest 2026". After rigorous screening among a variety of entries gathered from across the country, awards (Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Honorable Mention) were selected in 4 categories.

Introduction of Grand Prize Winners in Each Category

* School grades are as of the time of application.

Lower Elementary School Category

Ao Ichino (3rd Grade)

This vehicle is dispatched during heavy rain or typhoons. The first feature is filtering rainwater into drinking water.
First, it collects rainwater through the "funnel" on top of the vehicle and the "water inlet" at the bottom.
Next, the water passes through a "filtration tank" inside the vehicle, chlorine is added, and it becomes drinking water.
The second feature is converting lightning into electricity.
First, it collects lightning using a "lightning rod" on top of the vehicle and a "drone".
Next, the collected lightning is transmitted to a "storage tank" inside the vehicle to be converted into electricity. The storage tank and the drone are connected by a transmission line.

Upper Elementary School Category

Nonoka Nawa (6th Grade)

I thought of an item that allows anyone to easily engage in disaster prevention. The key point is that making it a sticker makes it cheap, easy to carry, and easy to place anywhere. Because it provides visual information, both people with and without hearing impairments can understand an abnormality at a glance. I thought it would be especially good to have since things like gas leaks are invisible. I designed it with a lucky Japanese-style motif to give it the meaning of a protective amulet.

Junior High School Category

Suzuka Nakamichi (1st Grade, Junior High)

The biggest feature of this umbrella is that it becomes a one-person tent during a disaster. If an evacuation center is far away or you cannot get in, wouldn't you feel relieved if you had a tent? Just pull out the inner frame and unfold the folding umbrella case, and it quickly turns into a tent. (I got the inspiration from Mongolian gers). It is easy to make and compact because it is a folding umbrella. The height of the handle is also adjustable, so you don't have to worry about feeling cramped.
By making creases and adding buttons so the case folds in a specific direction, it can also act as a storage pocket. The material of the case is waterproof and windproof. How about putting a disaster whistle or a small flashlight in it?
Even if it is an umbrella for disasters, if it cannot be used daily, it will just be buried at the bottom of a closet. Therefore, to prevent it from turning inside out like a bat umbrella and to keep backpacks or bags from getting wet, I made it so part of the umbrella extends slightly forward. As a specific countermeasure to prevent it from flipping, I connected the umbrella ribs and the handle with a string (cloth). With cloth, it has enough strength when pulled so the umbrella won't flip over, and it won't be in the way when folding. It's quite inconvenient when an umbrella immediately flips in strong winds, so if this becomes a reality, I think it would be quite popular.

High School Category

Yuha Aizawa (1st Grade, High School)

This fire truck I came up with does not "extinguish fires" but "envelops and calms the fire with the power of plants." The name (Green Cocoon) comes from how it envelops like a cocoon.
Instead of using water, this fire truck sprays special seeds and a nutrient mist, and vines and giant leaves that grow in seconds gently envelop the source of the fire. The plants block oxygen and absorb heat and smoke, allowing for safe and eco-friendly fire extinguishing.
Also, the vehicle itself acts like a moving farm, allowing plants to be grown inside. Its major strength is that it can handle fires in areas with water shortages, electrical fires, and fires involving cultural properties.
Furthermore, the plant arm can freely change its shape, becoming a ladder to rescue people or extending to walls and ceilings. After the fire is extinguished, the plants naturally wither, causing minimal impact on the environment.
By selling seeds and vitality agents for home use, large fires can be prevented. It can also be safely used by young children. I also think that incorporating practical training to grow these seeds in school education would be a good opportunity to think about fires.
I thought this fire truck would be a new form of firefighting where people and nature cooperate to protect the future.
