Morisawa Co., Ltd. will be a sponsor of the "Hattatsuson Festival 2026" to be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Osaka.
Hattatsuson Festival 2026 is an event where participants can learn about accessibility and corporate initiatives, aiming to "co-create an environment with choices and clear visibility." It is held in conjunction with "World Autism Awareness Day" and "Developmental Disabilities Awareness Week," and introduces and disseminates initiatives that emphasize inclusive design and accessibility, based on the concept of neurodiversity.

In the session program, Hiromi Takada, the developer of UD Digital Textbook Body font and a proponent of the importance of UD (Universal Design) fonts through her book "Miracle Font" (Jiji Press), will speak about the design principles of UD Digital Textbook Body font as a model for handwriting. She will also present issues with kanji tests and discuss the ideal form of kanji tests together with individuals who have difficulties with writing.
At the Morisawa exhibition booth, we will introduce Morisawa's UD fonts, developed with the concepts of "easy-to-understand letter shapes," "easy-to-read text," and "difficult to misread," to convey information to a wider audience, along with adoption examples. Those who complete a survey will receive an original clear file using UD Digital Textbook Body font, themed around the diversity of kanji and the joy of learning, which will also be introduced in the session. The design clearly conveys the diversity of kanji shapes through educational kanji lists for first to sixth graders and a mechanism that allows for comparison of different character shapes.
Additionally, a simplified version of the "MyType Workshop," conducted jointly with Musashino Art University, will be exhibited as an opportunity to deepen understanding of dyslexia (*). The "MyType Workshop" is a program where individuals with dyslexia explore "the most readable fonts and layouts for themselves" together with designers and font experts. We encourage you to visit our booth.
(*) About Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a type of learning disability (LD) where individuals have no visual or auditory impairments and no intellectual problems, but experience difficulties with reading and writing. It is estimated that about 7-8% of people in Japan have dyslexia, but this fact is not widely known, and parents, teachers, or even the individuals themselves may not be aware of it.
