Achieving Triple Block with 100% Shading/UV Cut Rate, Water Repellency, and Wind Resistance Design*! Launch of New Models of 'Honeycomb Insulation Parasol' for Both Clear and Rainy Weather
Moonbat Co., Ltd. has launched new models of its 'Honeycomb Insulation Parasol', an all-weather parasol featuring a unique three-layer honeycomb aluminum sheet structure that actively releases heat. It offers 100% shading/UV protection, water repellency, and wind resistance to combat extreme summer heat.

Moonbat Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Representative Director: Takashi Kamada, hereinafter "Moonbat") will launch a new lineup from its "Honeycomb Insulation Parasol" series, which features a unique three-layer fabric structure sandwiching a honeycomb-structured aluminum sheet to release heat from the sun outside without trapping it.
In addition to high heat-shielding performance with a 100% shading and UV cut rate, it is a highly functional parasol that can be used in both clear and rainy weather, featuring water-repellent processing and a wind-resistant bone structure*.

[Development Background]
In recent summers, the sensible temperature has been rising due to complex factors, such as not only direct sunlight but also reflection from the ground and buildings, and heat retention caused by trapped air. Conventional parasols have been designed primarily to block direct sunlight, but the environment is becoming such that they cannot adequately cope with it alone.

According to data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, average maximum temperatures exceeding normal values have been recorded throughout the year in 2025, and the difference is particularly noticeable in summer. In addition to extreme heat becoming the norm, sensible temperatures are being pushed up further in urban areas by reflection and heat retention, making conventional "sun-blocking only" measures insufficient. Similar severe heat is expected in 2026, and early measures before the season goes into full swing are considered important.
To address these challenges of harsh weather environments, our company has further evolved conventional thermal insulation technology using aluminum sheets and developed the "Honeycomb Insulation Parasol," a parasol for both clear and rainy weather.
The air layer created by the three-layer sandwich structure with a honeycomb-structured sheet sandwiched between the fabrics efficiently releases heat to the outside, realizing an excellent temperature reduction effect. Furthermore, heat is easily discharged by the movement of air during walking, demonstrating a high heat-shielding effect even when going out.
In the new models released this time, long umbrellas have been fully renewed from conventional aluminum sheet specifications to honeycomb sheet specifications. In addition, new patterns have been added to folding umbrellas, expanding the lineup variations.
[Product Features]
1. 100% shading and UV cut rate. Firmly guards against rain and sunlight.
It achieves a 100% shading and UV cut rate, firmly protecting you from strong sunlight. In addition, the outer fabric has a water-repellent finish, making it a clear-and-rainy-weather specification that can cope with sudden rain.
Test methods... Heat shielding effect: JIS L 1951 / Shading rate: JIS L 1055A method / UV cut rate / UPF value: JIS L 1925
*The listed values are measured in the fabric state. They do not indicate the performance of the entire umbrella.
2. Honeycomb aluminum sheet blocks light and UV rays.
The three-layer sandwich structure with a honeycomb-structured aluminum sheet sandwiched in between blocks light and UV rays while efficiently releasing heat trapped inside to the outside. In a heat-shielding evaluation test of the umbrella (under an indoor environment), a temperature difference of up to 33.9°C was confirmed compared to when not in use.
In addition, thermography tests have confirmed a temperature reduction effect of up to -14.3°C at the top of the head and up to -4.4°C at the right shoulder. These figures are based on indoor tests, but even outdoors, the vibration and wind when walking move the air within the three-layer structure, making it easier for heat to escape, allowing you to actually feel the heat-shielding effect in the actual usage environment.
3. Wind-resistant structure* for peace of mind even in sudden winds.
It is designed to be hard to break even if the umbrella turns inside out due to a wind-resistant bone structure that lets wind escape.
*Excluding 50cm models. *It has cleared a wind resistance test of 15m/s wind speed, but please avoid using it in strong winds.
