MONO BRAIN Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Masaki Kato; hereinafter "MONO BRAIN"), which develops the AI security platform "MODEL SAFE," has joined the AI Governance Association (hereinafter "AIGA") as a full member. MONO BRAIN will leverage its practical knowledge, gained from detecting and blocking over 3,000 AI-specific attacks in production environments, to contribute to the social implementation of "proactive AI governance" championed by the association, which aims to maximize the value of AI.

■ Background of Participation: Strong Empathy for "Proactive Governance"
In recent AI development, "AI-specific vulnerabilities" such as prompt injection and AI supply chain attacks cannot be prevented by existing software security frameworks.

AIGA's emphasis on "AI governance should be implemented to promote innovation, not to suppress AI utilization"—this "proactive AI governance" deeply resonates with our company's mission.

We decided to participate in this initiative to realize a society where companies can boldly accelerate innovation (offense) by building robust security (defense).

■ Contribution to the Association: Towards Standardization of Governance Based on Practical Knowledge
As a specialized group in AI security, MONO BRAIN will contribute to AIGA's mission through the following activities:

Support for Policy Formulation Based on Practical Data
Based on a track record of detecting and blocking over 3,000 instances of misuse and attacks in AI systems operating in production, we will share the latest threat trends and effective defense methods. We will support the formulation of highly effective AI governance guidelines.

Improving Literacy Through the Provision of Education and Verification Environments
Utilizing our publicly available open-source AI security training environment "Model Security Range," we will provide a venue for practitioners to learn about risks and countermeasures at an implementation level.

Technical Proposals for a "Governance Foundation"
We will propose technical approaches to automate and visualize future regulatory compliance and internal policy adherence, and together with stakeholders from industry, government, and academia, build a sound AI ecosystem.

■ About the AI Governance Association
The AI Governance Association (AIGA) was established in 2023 to create a forum where diverse players can discuss the ideal state of AI governance, enabling companies and society to safely utilize AI and achieve sustainable growth. This was in response to the rapid expansion of AI business utilization, growing awareness of risks, and rapid changes in domestic and international policy trends.

From October 2024, AIGA will expand its activities and transition its structure and operations to a general incorporated association to strengthen the social implementation of AI governance and collaboration with policymakers.

AIGA conducts cross-industry discussions among leading companies from diverse fields, including global tech giants such as Google LLC, Microsoft Japan, and AWS Japan, as well as major domestic companies in finance, insurance, telecommunications, IT, HR, manufacturing, and infrastructure, and startups engaged in AI and data businesses. These activities aim to foster a common understanding of ideal corporate AI governance and make policy recommendations.
