One New Member Appointed to Advisory Board

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (President: Jotaro Tamura, Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter “the Company”) is pleased to announce that Mr. Kenji Kushida has been newly appointed to its Advisory Board, effective April 1, 2026. The Advisory Board was established to obtain opinions from external experts on high-priority areas from the perspective of formulating management strategies and managing risks.

Mr. Kushida, as a Senior Fellow and Director of the Japan Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, possesses extensive knowledge and experience in global political economy and innovation, particularly focusing on Japan-U.S. relations. He studied at Stanford University (B.A., M.A.) and the University of California, Berkeley (Ph.D.), and previously served as a researcher at Stanford University. Currently, he is also active as a leader of innovation projects connecting Silicon Valley and Japan. He has conducted research and made recommendations on a wide range of topics, including global strategies for Japanese companies, industrial structural transformation, and DX promotion. With Mr. Kushida's participation, the Company will obtain strategic advice based on the international environment, further promoting sustainable growth and enhancing corporate value.

Name: Naoko Ishii
Main Career: Special Envoy of the President for Global Commons, Director of the Center for Global Commons, Project Professor at the Institute for Future Initiatives, The University of Tokyo. Joined the Ministry of Finance (then Ministry of Finance) in 1981. Served as Economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Country Director for Vietnam at the World Bank, Country Director for Sri Lanka at the World Bank, among others. Deputy Vice Minister of Finance in 2010. CEO of the Global Environment Facility in 2012. Executive Vice President and Professor at the Institute for Future Initiatives, The University of Tokyo in August 2020. Special Envoy of the President since April 2024. Ph.D. (International Development) from The University of Tokyo.

Name: Naoko Eto
Main Career: Professor, Faculty of Law, Gakushuin University. Also serves as a member of the Expert Meeting on Industrial and Technology Base Strengthening for Economic Security at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Industrial Structure Council of the same ministry, and the Customs and Foreign Exchange Council of the Ministry of Finance. Completed M.A. in International Politics at Stanford University and Ph.D. in Law at Keio University Graduate School of Law. Ph.D. (Law).

Name: Kenji Kushida
Main Career: Senior Fellow and Director of the Japan Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Also serves as Project Leader for the Japan - Silicon Valley Innovation Initiative@Carnegie, connecting Silicon Valley and Japan, and International Research Fellow at the Canon Institute for Global Studies. Holds a B.A. in Economics and East Asian Studies and an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Previously served as Research Scholar for the Japan Program at the Asia-Pacific Research Center and Lecturer at Stanford University, and Principal Research Fellow at the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research.

Name: Toyohisa Kozuki
Main Career: Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia. Joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981, then served as Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau and Director-General of the Minister's Secretariat, followed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia from 2015 to 2023. Special Professor at Chiba Institute of Technology since January 2024. Author of “Putin's Historical Perception.”

Name: Mitsunobu Koshiba
Main Career: Outside Director, SAIMEMORY Inc. Joined Japan Synthetic Rubber Co., Ltd. (now JSR) in 1981, became Representative Director and President in 2009, Representative Director and Chairman in 2019, and Honorary Chairman from 2021. Served as Vice Chairman of Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives) until FY2022, responsible for economic security, etc. Established Cdots LLC (think tank) in 2020 to publish opinions on advanced technology, geopolitics, and geo-economics.

Name: Rajesh Madhavan Unni
Main Career: Founder and Chairman of Synergy Marine Group, one of the world's largest ship management companies. Completed AMP (Advanced Management Program) at Harvard University and co-founded Alpha Ori Technologies in 2017. Holds key positions in multiple international maritime organizations, including Director at Windward, Advisor at Alsym Energy, Lloyd’s Register South Asia Advisory Committee, and Global Maritime Forum.
