MODE, Inc. (Headquarters: California, USA; Japan Branch: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Manabu Ueda; hereinafter MODE), a startup from Silicon Valley that supports the utilization of field data, announced today that its IoT platform for the field, "BizStack," now supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) clients.
This enhancement allows BizStack's AI assistant function, "BizStack Assistant," to collaborate with user companies' data sources and external systems, enabling the AI to provide answers and operational support while utilizing user-specific information.
Background
In recent years, the use of AI agents to perform tasks in conjunction with various systems has become widespread. MCP is gaining attention as a standard specification for connecting AI with external systems. With this trend in mind, MODE proceeded with MCP support for BizStack.
While the use of generative AI is advancing, many companies face the challenge that the information AI can reference is limited to general knowledge or pre-registered data, and cannot sufficiently utilize internal systems, equipment information, or operational know-how necessary for actual business operations.
Furthermore, since the systems and data structures used by each company differ, individual development has been required to link AI with business systems, posing a hurdle to adoption.
To address these challenges, MODE has initiated MCP support for BizStack as an open integration platform for the era of AI agents.
What MCP Client Support Enables
MCP is gaining attention as an open standard specification for connecting AI with external systems. An MCP client is a mechanism that allows AI to connect with external systems in a standardized manner to acquire necessary data and execute functions.
With this support, BizStack Assistant, as an MCP client, can now connect with external MCP servers and integrate with various data sources owned by user companies.
This enables BizStack Assistant to provide answers and operational support by utilizing not only the IoT data held by BizStack but also information residing in internal databases and proprietary systems.
Key Use Cases
Situational understanding by combining field data with internal knowledge
Execution of business-specific calculations (e.g., simulations)
Data transmission to external systems
Note that MCP server settings will be required depending on the connected systems and services.
Future Outlook
MODE has so far provided BizStack as a data integration platform that unifies IoT data and data from existing systems.
With the addition of MCP client support, MODE will further expand the range of data sources that AI can utilize, creating an environment that allows flexible access to information dispersed both inside and outside the company.
MODE will continue to promote the provision of data utilization infrastructure required in the AI agent era as an open platform connecting field data and corporate systems.
