Overview of the Miura no Mori Project

Towards a Future Where People and Nature Connect

The Miura no Mori Project is an initiative to pass on Keikyu Corporation's approximately 100ha of company-owned forest on the Miura Peninsula to the future while protecting biodiversity. Through forest management, utilization of thinned wood, and nature experience activities, diverse companies and organizations are co-creating under the purpose of "creating a future where people and nature connect healthily." As a company rooted in the region, Miura Kanko Bus has participated in the first phase (2025) of this project with the desire to contribute to the regeneration of the natural environment and its inheritance to future generations.

Aiming for an Environment Where Fireflies Can Inhabit

Currently, Miura Kanko Bus is responsible for biotope maintenance within the Miura no Mori Project once a month. Fireflies are delicate creatures that can only inhabit an environment where clean waterside environments and rich ecosystems are maintained. With the desire to leave a forest where fireflies can be enjoyed in the future, our company will continue to engage in activities such as improving waterside environments and creating vegetation.

Miura Kanko Bus Co., Ltd. Comment from Tatsuya Negishi, Senior Managing Director

"Since our founding in 1998, Miura Kanko Bus has operated a charter bus business rooted in the Miura Peninsula. Furthermore, its predecessor business began with operating a beach house at Miura Coast during the period of high economic growth in 1959. Along with changes in the society and environment of the Miura Peninsula, we have undertaken businesses that would be appreciated at the time. Forest creation does not yield immediate results, but over time, we will work to help create a lifestyle that utilizes the environment of the Miura Peninsula, where locals can enjoy nature, including fireflies."

Future Outlook

Miura Kanko Bus will continue to work towards creating a future where the region, companies, and nature coexist through the Miura no Mori Co-creation Project.
