Mitsuuroko Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kohei Tajima; hereinafter "Mitsuuroko"), Mitsuuroko Green Energy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Manabu Sakanishi; hereinafter "MGE"), and Mitsuuroko Vessel Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kenji Yoshizawa; hereinafter "MV"), consolidated subsidiaries of the Mitsuuroko Group, have commenced an off-site corporate PPA*2 initiative using solar power generation (hereinafter "this Project").
In this Project, MGE will use a physical PPA*4 scheme to supply electricity with additionality*3 and environmental value, generated by a solar power plant newly developed by MV, to the commercial complex "HAMABOWL EAS" (Location: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; hereinafter "this Facility") operated by Mitsuuroko (hereinafter "this Scheme"). This is Mitsuuroko's first initiative to introduce renewable energy using this Scheme.
The annual reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from this Project is estimated at approximately 2,157 t-CO₂eq. This is equivalent to approximately 56.50% of this Facility's stand-alone GHG emissions and approximately 10.16% of our Group's Scope 2 GHG emissions, and it is expected to contribute to our company's efforts toward realizing a low-carbon society*5.
*1 Scope 2 refers to the "contribution to CO₂ reduction and energy efficiency improvement in indirect emissions associated with the use of electricity, heat, and steam supplied by other companies" among the environmental contributions set as KPIs in the "Sustainability Report 2024".
*2 Off-site Corporate PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) is a method where a consumer procures renewable electricity from a power producer via a retail electricity provider at a fixed price over a long term.
*3 Additionality means that the purchase of renewable electricity or certificates has the effect of promoting the increase of and investment in new renewable energy facilities.
*4 A physical PPA in this contract supplies electricity and environmental value in a format where a retail electricity provider intermediates between the power producer and the consumer.
*5 Estimated GHG emission reductions from this Project and the GHG emission values for this Facility and the Group are calculated based on data aggregated in the "Sustainability Report 2024".
