Mitsumura Tosho Publishing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Naoki Yoshida), a publisher of textbooks for elementary, junior high, and high schools, released the picture book 'Perori Amatsubu Gogo 3-ji' (written and illustrated by Mizuki Goto) on March 28th.

"Bitterness and worry are the seeds of umami."
Bitter, sour, salty, sweet—seven stories where feelings and flavors resonate with each other.
The unspoken feelings of daily life are woven together through beautiful illustrations and words.
On days when things don't go well, or when you can't find the right words, please open this book.
You will surely find your own feelings—and your own hope—within these pages.
Mizuki Goto's art is created by first applying a base coat to a board, then layering colors, masking tape, and motifs. The images are born through a repetitive process of pasting, peeling, and painting while observing the evolving canvas.
This picture book is filled with energetic illustrations that seem to burst off the page, accompanied by beautiful, poem-like text. It is a book we highly recommend to anyone who wants to take a break and take a deep breath for their soul.

● Author's Note
I am angry.
My head is boiling over.
This is my chance; I'll put a kettle on my head and have tea time.
This tea is bitter, I cried out.
I reached into the fog in my chest and swirled it around,
and made a big cotton candy. Amazing.
Bitter tea while licking the 'fog-candy'
actually goes quite well! As I thought about that,
my stomach completely settled down.
It would be easier to forget,
but if I turn it into a story so I don't forget, and taste it again later,
I can even have a little laugh.
