About Kita Kannon Yama

Kita Kannon Yama is a hikiyama (float) that appears in the Gion Matsuri's Ato Matsuri (later festival) and is also known as "Kami Kannon Yama." The sacred object enshrined is a statue of Willow Kannon, believed to heal illness, and a statue of the swift guardian deity Idaten, which is revered as a symbol of warding off evil. The float is known for its magnificent kensou (decorations), boasting elaborate carpets, embroidery, and carvings.
