For the fourth phase of 'NIHONBASHI RIVER WALK MUSEUM', the artwork 'Echoes Infinity - QLAMMVON' by artist Shinji Ohmaki will be displayed. This piece is a visual artwork reflecting the accumulated depth of time in Nihonbashi and the evolving image of a city progressing into the future. The inspiration stems from the artist’s childhood memories of his family’s fabric shop, where patterned textiles were stacked in layers.
The background features a reconfigured image of historical maps of the Nihonbashi River area. By layering maps from different eras with silver sheets, the artwork expresses the flow of the Nihonbashi River, time, and scenery from the Edo period to the present as a single continuous timeline.
Overlaid on this are vibrant, colorful images inspired by floral and avian motifs, symbolizing how diverse cultures and people with different backgrounds intersect at this location, giving rise to new life and creativity. The visual captures the essence of Nihonbashi as a hub of diverse values and activities, combining festivity and organic growth.
The temporary fencing, which appears during the transformative process of redevelopment, is reinterpreted as a medium connecting 'what has accumulated' with 'what will emerge'. By inheriting the city’s memory while nurturing hope for the future, the installation evokes excitement for new urban development and anticipation for the future of Nihonbashi.

Shinji Ohmaki – Visual Artist
Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1971. Recipient of the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Award for New Artists in 2023 (Reiwa 5).
Ohmaki’s artistic practice explores the theme of 'existence'. He investigates the relationships between the external world (environment, others), the internal world (memory, consciousness), and the body as their boundary. His work attempts to create bodily spatiotemporal experiences that approach the ambiguous and elusive nature of 'existence' as it fluctuates among these three realms. In recent years, he has actively collaborated with contemporary dance, producing performance works, and has created public art installations worldwide.
