Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shun Ueda; hereinafter 'Mitsui Fudosan') and Daikin Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture; President and COO: Naofumi Takenaka; hereinafter 'Daikin') will launch the 'TOKYO COOL PROJECT' (hereinafter 'the project') aimed at summer heat mitigation and enhancing visitor comfort. As the first phase of this project, two units of Daikin's outdoor air conditioner 'Outertower' will be installed at the 1st-floor Galeria of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu from June 11 to September 30, 2026—approximately three and a half months—to promote heat mitigation and improve visitor comfort.
In recent years, due to climate change and other factors, the number of extremely hot days in urban areas has been increasing, making heatstroke prevention and the creation of comfortable outdoor environments critical social issues.
At Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, various events and opportunities for community engagement are held year-round. Creating a comfortable environment in outdoor spaces used by many visitors—even during summer—is one of the key challenges. During the 'Sanno Festival Yaesu Ennichi 2026' held on June 12 and 13, this equipment was already utilized to create a pleasant and comfortable environment.
In this project, Daikin's outdoor air conditioner 'Outertower' will be used to enhance visitor comfort and implement heat mitigation measures. Mitsui Fudosan and Daikin will leverage insights gained from this initiative to explore new approaches to urban heat mitigation, evaluate potential expansion to other facilities and areas, and promote the creation of safe, secure, and comfortable urban spaces, contributing to sustainable city development.
