Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kei Uruma; hereinafter "Mitsubishi Electric") announced that it acquired all shares of Infostellar Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Naomi Kurahashi; hereinafter "Infostellar"), a provider of cloud-based ground station services for satellite operators, on July 1, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Through this acquisition, both companies aim to expand satellite operator ground station services, for which global demand is rapidly increasing, based on a strong partnership.

In recent years, the space industry has seen the expansion of diverse services utilizing small satellite constellations (*). This has led to a rapid increase in the need for private companies to consistently build and provide the ground station networks essential for operating these services.

Mitsubishi Electric has cultivated diverse expertise in both satellites and ground equipment through its participation in satellite and ground equipment projects both domestically and internationally. For ground equipment, the company possesses advanced antenna and satellite control technologies developed through the development and manufacturing of ground stations that communicate with, track, and control satellites, as well as optical and radio telescopes for astronomical observation. Meanwhile, Infostellar deploys GSaaS (Ground Segment as a Service) by virtually networking ground stations worldwide via its proprietary ground station platform service "StellarStationTM" for orbiting satellites, providing satellite operators with diverse communication opportunities as a unified service.

Moving forward, by integrating Mitsubishi Electric's satellite and ground equipment development, manufacturing, and system integration capabilities, cultivated over many years in its Defense & Space Systems business, with Infostellar's GSaaS platform and agile development capabilities, the two companies will accelerate the global expansion of ground networks and establish space communication infrastructure that combines quality and reliability. This will enable the creation of services that provide timely space communication infrastructure tailored to the diverse needs of satellite operators, while reducing their initial investment and operational burdens. Leveraging this robust space communication infrastructure as a business foundation, both companies will develop new business models in the space industry and strongly drive the sustainable growth of space utilization.
