Mitsuiwa Home Co., Ltd. (President and CEO, Tetsuya Sakio) received an appreciation certificate on June 6, 2026 (Saturday), during a ceremony held in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, hosted by the 'Wise Men's Club International Association Tohoku Japan District.'

This certificate expresses renewed gratitude for the company's support of the 'Tsunami Lesson Stones' and 'Tsunami Memory Stones' projects in the disaster-affected regions of the Great East Japan Earthquake, 15 years after the disaster.

Since the immediate aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, Mitsuiwa Home has engaged in recovery support, including the construction of emergency temporary housing and the implementation of the educational support program 'Antarctic Class.' As part of these efforts, the company has supported the establishment of stone monuments in six locations across Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures, in collaboration with volunteer organizations such as YMCA※2 and the Wise Men's Club International Association. This initiative aligns with local residents' wishes to preserve tsunami disaster lessons not merely as 'memories,' but as 'lessons' to be passed on to future generations.

Fifteen years after the disaster, the company's long-standing support has culminated in the receipt of this commemorative appreciation certificate. Mitsuiwa Home will continue to contribute to building a prosperous, sustainable society and communities where everyone can live safely and securely for generations to come.

Overview and History of Support

From the immediate aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, Mitsuiwa Home has been involved in recovery support such as constructing emergency temporary housing, while also conducting multifaceted awareness and educational support activities tailored to the needs of disaster-affected communities.

In 2012, the company joined the 'Tsunami Memory Stone Project' led by the General Incorporated Association Zenyuishi (National Association of Excellent Stone Retailers). It conducted a charity sale of the 'Mitsuiwa Bauhaus Poster' designed by art director Katsuki Asaba, donating a portion of the proceeds as sponsorship for the construction of 'Tsunami Memory Stones' in coastal areas, including the Nehamachi district of Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture.

Alongside this physical support, the company implemented its educational support program 'Antarctic Class'—a program run by the Mitsuiwa Home Group for elementary and junior high schools nationwide—in various disaster-affected areas. This initiative aimed to help children who experienced the disaster cultivate the ability to envision their own dreams for the future, providing them with opportunities to reflect on dreams and hope.

Within this broader context of multifaceted recovery support, in 2017, the company endorsed the 'Hamanasu Learning' program—a comprehensive learning initiative at Ishinomaki Municipal Ogibama Junior High School in the Ogibama district of Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. Mitsuiwa Home supported student-led activities such as designing the monument and drafting the inscription, co-funding the construction costs with Tohoku Mitsuiwa Home Co., Ltd. for the student-initiated 'Tsunami Lesson Stone' project, which aims to preserve disaster memories and pass on life-saving lessons to future generations.
