On Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Environment Bureau held the 'Mirai Tankyu Festa,' an interactive event where elementary school students and their guardians could enjoy learning about the environment. Approximately 4,200 parents and children attended the event, which took place at the Shinjuku Station West Exit Square Event Corner and the JA Tokyo Agri Park. It was a day filled with diverse experiences, including crafts, workshops, and stage programs, designed to teach them about the environment.

This event was organized with the goal of inspiring elementary school children to become 'household environment leaders' (the 'Household Environment Bureau Chiefs') and take the initiative in leading eco-actions within their families.

The 'Household Environment Bureau Chief' Project Promoted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government

The 'Household Environment Bureau Chief' project, undertaken by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Environment Bureau, is an initiative aiming to encourage elementary school students to become 'household environment leaders' who think about and act for the environment at home, tackling eco-actions together with their families.

Through experiential contents in collaboration with companies, this event aimed to provide an opportunity for children to joyfully learn 'what they can do for the environment' and for parents and children to think and act together.

Information about the past efforts of the 'Household Environment Bureau Chief' project is being disseminated on the official Household Environment Bureau Chief website and the official Instagram account 'Household Environment Bureau Chief PR Team.'
