Launch of the King Salmon Project's 'Impact Creation Program' Kickoff Event

Since FY2019, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has provided its frontline sectors—such as healthcare and welfare—as demonstration fields for startups, engaging in collaborative projects aimed at solving metropolitan challenges.

Furthermore, in November last year, Tokyo upgraded its startup strategy to 'Global Innovation Strategy 2.0 STARTUP & SCALEUP,' positioning 'Global × Scaleup'—the continuous creation of companies capable of rapid global growth—as a new core initiative.

Building on this strategy, the King Salmon Project is now launching the 'Impact Creation Program' (hereinafter referred to as 'the Program') to further promote startups' global activities. The Program aims to support startups' leapfrog growth by challenging them to undertake projects that generate greater social impact.

To mark the launch of this Program, a kickoff event will be held, inviting startups aiming for global markets and 'Collaborators' involved in supporting and partnering with them. Details are as follows:

1. Program Overview

The Program aims to establish a cycle for cultivating startups that generate significant social impact by supporting startups in implementing projects and developing and deploying products both domestically and internationally through collaboration with diverse players ('Collaborators').

Under this Program, large enterprises and other Collaborators will provide assets and resources such as real estate, expertise, and networks to startups, which will then utilize these to advance their projects.

(1) Program Flow

■ What is a 'Collaborator'?

The Program anticipates participation from individuals and organizations that can support or collaborate with startups in the following ways:

- Provision of implementation fields or potential customers… companies with operational fields domestically or internationally

- Provision of product development environments… electronics manufacturers, manufacturing companies, etc.

- Provision of expertise in global expansion, deep tech, etc.… venture capital firms (VCs), accelerators, universities, etc.

(2) Social Challenge Themes

The following themes have been set, focusing on solving social issues in these areas:

① Climate Change and Energy Measures

　(Examples) Heat mitigation, renewable energy, high-efficiency energy management, etc.

② Building Flexible and Resilient Social Infrastructure

　(Examples) Disaster prevention, infrastructure maintenance, food security, waste reduction and waste processing, etc.

(3) Target Startup Profile

- Possessing outstanding technology or ideas to drive innovation and operating a business aligned with the Program's themes

- Having a product or service ready for demonstration or commercialization, or having completed the foundational development phase of their core technology or product

- Generally an unlisted company established within the last 10 years

- Having a track record of fundraising from VCs, CVCs, or equivalent institutions

- Currently operating or planning to operate in Tokyo
