Tokyo Expands Support for CDR Credit Creation Utilizing Natural and Advanced Technologies!

Towards the realization of 'Zero Emission Tokyo,' in addition to efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, initiatives to absorb and remove CO2 from the atmosphere (CDR: Carbon Dioxide Removal) are indispensable. Under these circumstances, carbon credits that allow the trading of CO2 removal value are crucial for advancing CDR. Demand for these credits is expected to expand, garnering significant attention both domestically and internationally.

In response, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will implement the 'CDR Credit Creation Promotion Project' in collaboration with business operators to facilitate the creation of carbon credits derived from CDR. From fiscal year 2026, the scope of support will be broadened to include not only the utilization of natural resources but also carbon credits utilizing cutting-edge technologies. Furthermore, the target locations will be expanded from within Tokyo to include both domestic and international sites. The implementation period and maximum funding amounts will also be increased.

We are now pleased to announce a new recruitment for mid-sized, small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs), and startups based in Tokyo to participate in this project.

### Project Overview
TMG will publicly solicit and select operators engaged in the commercialization and social implementation of CDR utilizing carbon credits. Selected operators will receive financial support for expenses through agreement funds and ongoing 'hands-on' support from project promoters over a three-year period.

**Implementation Period:**
From FY2026 to FY2028 (3-year project)

**Number of Selections:**
Approximately 3 companies

**Support Content:**
1. Partial coverage of expenses related to the demonstration project (up to 50 million yen)
2. Hands-on support by project promoters

### Recruitment Overview
**Key Application Requirements:**
Must be a mid-sized/SME or startup with a head office or main office/business site located in Tokyo.

**Recruitment Themes:**
Applications are accepted in two categories based on the maturity of the technology and the status of credit methodology development:
1. Construction of business models utilizing credits
2. Formulation of new methodologies
