Ariake Tennis Forest Park Tennis Facility Becomes National Training Center for Wheelchair Tennis

We are pleased to announce that the Ariake Tennis Forest Park tennis facility has been designated by the Japan Sports Agency as a National Training Center (NTC) Competition-Specific Enhancement Hub Facility for wheelchair tennis. Going forward, the facility's show courts, indoor courts, etc., will be utilized for the strengthening and development of national athletes for events such as the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics. 1. About the National Training Center (NTC) Competition-Specific Enhancement Hub Facilities The Japan Sports Agency designates existing training facilities as NTC Competition-Specific Enhancement Hubs for winter, marine/waterfront, outdoor sports, etc., where training is difficult at the NTC Core Hub (Ajinomoto National Training Center in Kita-ku, Tokyo), and supports the development of a training environment that includes sports medicine and science support. 2. Reason for Designation This facility was designated because it has international standard tennis courts, is a legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, and can provide an accessible and barrier-free environment where para-athletes can easily be active. The Japan Wheelchair Tennis Association will inherit the legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, utilizing this facility as a base for intensive and continuous activities.
