MetaWater Co., Ltd. Receives Order for "Mitsui Water Source Water Quality Improvement Treatment Facility Development Project (Water Purification Treatment Equipment)" from Kakamigahara City

MetaWater Co., Ltd. (President: Kenji Yamaguchi, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has recently received an order from Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, for the "Mitsui Water Source Water Quality Improvement Treatment Facility Development Project (Water Purification Treatment Equipment)". The PFAS (per- and polyfluorofluoroalkyl substances) removal facility to be newly installed in this project will be the first in Japan to use ion-exchange resin for tap water. In Kakamigahara City, PFAS was detected exceeding the national provisional target value (at the time)* in the Mitsui Water Source, which is the city's main water source. In response, a review of water source operations and emergency measures have been promoted. Amid growing national interest in tap water quality, the city decided to develop a new water purification treatment facility at the Mitsui Water Source as a medium-term water quality improvement measure. In this project, based on the recommendations of the Kakamigahara City Water Quality Improvement Measures Committee, our company will install a new PFAS removal facility using ion-exchange resin before the inflow to the aeration tank (existing equipment). Our company will reliably proceed with this project by maximizing our long-cultivated water purification technology and expertise, supporting Kakamigahara City's water quality improvement measures. We will contribute to providing safe and secure tap water to the citizens for generations to come. *Due to the amendment of the Ministerial Ordinance on Water Quality Standards enforced from April 1, 2026, the standard value for the sum of PFOS and PFOA has been set at 50 ng/L.
