The construction management application "eYACHO," provided by MetaMoJi Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Kazunori Ukigawa), has been trial-introduced at the Otsuki Office of Central Nippon Highway Maintenance Chuo Company Limited (Headquarters: Hachioji City, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Isao Nagahama). The aim is to digitize forms and improve operational efficiency in expressway maintenance work.
By introducing eYACHO, the company reduced the time required to create Risk Assessment Kiken Yochi (RKY - Danger Prediction) activity sheets by approximately 50%. Furthermore, by streamlining the creation of daily reports, photography, data entry, and aggregation associated with snow and ice operations, they achieved a reduction of about 50 hours of labor per season.
As a group company of NEXCO Central, the company is an expert group in expressway maintenance, conducting repairs, snow and ice countermeasures, and accident recovery work on expressways in the Kanto-Koshin area, such as the Chuo Expressway, Ken-O Expressway, Higashifujigoko Road, Chubu Odan Expressway, and Nagano Expressway.
Conventionally, a large number of forms, such as daily work records and RKY activity check sheets, were managed on paper, making it a burden for on-site staff to create many forms after completing their work. In addition, there were requests from management to streamline the aggregation and confirmation of forms.
◎ Small Start
To avoid confusion on-site, the introduction began with a trial operation by a 4-person work crew. Furthermore, the digitization of forms was narrowed down to two frequently used types: "Driving Daily Report" and "RKY Activity Check Sheet."
◎ Step-by-Step Expansion of Use
After confirming that there were no issues during the trial operation, it was rolled out to the entire office about three months later, expanding the scope of use to other forms such as "Work Daily Reports."
◎ Reproduction of Form Layout
By digitizing forms while reproducing the traditional paper layout, consideration was given so that users could input data with the same feel as before, realizing a smooth establishment.
By integrating the series of form-related workflows into eYACHO, from on-site workers to management, the workload on employees was significantly reduced. The main effects are as follows:
- Reduced RKY sheet creation time by about 50%
- Reduced daily report creation, photography, data entry, and aggregation in snow and ice operations, which previously took almost a whole day, to about 10 minutes, saving about 50 hours per season
- Streamlined aggregation work through digitization
Currently, the company is proceeding with the integration of eYACHO and its internal systems, aiming for further operational efficiency. They are also considering expanding the use of eYACHO, such as utilizing the video call function "GEMBA Talk" and safety management using "Safety AI Solutions."
MetaMoJi will continue to strongly support the company in further improving its work efficiency through the construction management application "eYACHO."
