Baby Asian Small-Clawed Otters Minamichita Beach Land (Mihama Town, Aichi Prefecture; Director: Mamoru Ishido; hereinafter 'our park') is soliciting nicknames for two baby Asian small-clawed otters born on Friday, February 6, 2026. With the desire to make visitors feel closer to the animals, our park asks customers to suggest nicknames for newly born individuals. We are looking forward to nicknames filled with the thoughts of our customers for these new baby otters as well. The application period will be from Saturday, April 25 to Sunday, May 17, 2026, and you can apply via the web. The nicknames will be selected from the submissions and announced at a nickname announcement ceremony to be held on Sunday, June 7. At birth, their estimated weight was around 300g, but by late March, it had more than doubled, and they are growing rapidly. Recently, they have been seen following their parents, walking around, and playfully wrestling with each other as brothers. ■ Other: The previous nickname contest was for a male California sea lion born in June 2025, and 'Ichiha' was selected from a total of 486 submissions.
