[About Meiji Kinenkan]

https://www.meijikinenkan.gr.jp/

The Main Building of Meiji Kinenkan was completed in 1881 as the 'Dining Hall of the Temporary Akasaka Palace' at the current location of the State Guest House. In 1888, it became the venue for the Imperial Conference to deliberate the draft of the 'Constitution of the Empire of Japan', and Emperor Meiji attended without fail. Due to this history, the Main Building of Meiji Kinenkan is also called the 'Constitution Memorial Hall'.

Since being relocated to its current site, it has been utilized as a venue for nationally and socially important events, such as the 30th-anniversary ceremony of the promulgation of the Constitution, the 50th-anniversary ceremony of the issuance of the Imperial Rescript on Education, general assemblies of the Japanese Red Cross Society and the Patriotic Women's Association, and commemorative events for the Saiseikai.

In 1947, it opened as a comprehensive wedding venue under the name 'Meiji Kinenkan', and has since celebrated the new beginnings of over 230,000 couples. Today, it is used not only for weddings but also for MICE events such as parties and conferences, commemorative events for celebrations and life rituals, and dining at restaurants and kaiseki dining rooms, offering many venues for various purposes.

In 2020, the historical and architectural value of the Main Building was recognized, and it was designated as a Tangible Cultural Property (Building) by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
