Meepa Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nakagun Ninomiya-machi, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Kentaro Yamanaka) and Odakyu SC Development Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Waichiro Hosoya) will jointly hold the children's experiential event "Meepa no Jikan in VinaWalk" at the community space "Vina Machi Living" within the commercial facility "VinaWalk" in Ebina City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
This event is a demonstration project based on the concept of "creating a town full of experiences," held on weekends at a commercial facility near the station, to provide diverse experiential opportunities for children from busy dual-income households.
Background and Concept: In recent years, there has been a challenge in providing experiential opportunities for children due to parental time constraints. It is said that children with abundant experiential opportunities in early childhood tend to have higher "non-cognitive skills" such as self-esteem and sociality when they grow up.
Therefore, Odakyu SC Development and Meepa are collaborating to create opportunities for children to engage in various programs at familiar commercial facilities. Parents can participate casually while shopping, or complete their shopping during the experience time. Through this project, the goal is for today's outing to be a day where children discover their future "passions."
Modern Children's "Experience Gap" and Social Background: 1. Reality of the Deepening "Experience Gap": In recent years, the "experience gap" in children's development has become a major social issue. According to a survey (*1), the causes of this gap are not only economic but also a significant lack of parental "time and mental余裕." With dual-income households continuously reaching record highs (approximately 12 million households), the burden of weekday pick-ups and drop-offs and the difficulty of gathering information are currently depriving children of opportunities to broaden their world. 2. Impact of Lack of Experience on the Future: An analysis by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (*2) shows a correlation between abundant early childhood experiences and higher socio-emotional skills such as self-esteem, proactiveness, and cooperativeness in junior and senior high school students. A lack of diverse experiences is not merely a lack of memories, but a loss of opportunities to develop non-cognitive skills (socio-emotional skills), which may narrow future life choices. Three Features of the Event: * Held on weekends near the station: Provides easy access to experiential opportunities at familiar commercial facilities without traveling far. * Participation without preparation: No need to prepare belongings, allowing children to expand their potential even on busy days. Parents are free to observe or complete their shopping during this time. * 4 dates, 4 types of experiences: Different genres of experiences are offered each week, providing opportunities to discover unexpected aspects of children. Multiple participations on multiple dates are welcome.
