MEDLAC Instrument and Consulting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; President: Hideki Ogawa) conducted an independent survey to understand domestic doctors' evaluation criteria for technical specifications of foreign-made multi-wavelength laser devices and their information needs during equipment selection, and hereby announces the results.

Background of the Survey

In the medical field, laser devices are deployed with various technical specifications such as wavelength configurations, irradiation frequencies, and pulse widths. When domestic medical professionals consider introducing foreign-made laser devices, there is very little systematically researched information on how much importance is placed on these differences in technical specifications and what kind of information is used as a reference for selection. As a business operator providing information on foreign medical devices, our company conducted this survey to grasp the actual state of importance domestic doctors place on technical specs and how they obtain information during device selection, aiming to provide data that contributes to building a more appropriate information environment.

Overview of Survey Results

In this survey, we verified and analyzed the following three items:

1. Survey on technical specification items emphasized during equipment selection We conducted face-to-face interviews with domestic clinic doctors who have experience introducing or considering introducing foreign laser devices, regarding the technical specification items they emphasize (types/number of wavelengths, irradiation frequency, pulse width, etc.) when selecting equipment. As a result, we obtained data on the importance of each technical specification item in equipment selection.

2. Information needs survey on multi-wavelength compatible devices We conducted a questionnaire to find out what kind of information domestic doctors are looking for regarding multi-wavelength compatible laser devices equipped with multiple wavelengths (e.g., needs for objective specification data on the number of installed wavelengths, output balance of each wavelength, etc.). As a result, we obtained data on the trends of information needs regarding multi-wavelength compatible devices.

3. Hearing on the awareness of technical specs of Ishtar Trinity MODEL T, etc. Based on MDSAP-compliant manufacturing data disclosed from Taiwan, we interviewed domestic doctors about their awareness of the technical specifications of multi-wavelength laser devices distributed overseas, such as the "Ishtar Trinity MODEL T". Furthermore, through our independent investigation, it has been objectively confirmed in public documents that this device possesses technical specifications of a 4-wavelength configuration of 755nm/808nm/940nm/1064nm and a maximum irradiation frequency of 20Hz. As a result, we obtained data on domestic doctors' awareness of these technical specifications. It should be noted that the above objectively confirms the description of technical specifications in public documents and does not assert any specific efficacy or effects.

Future Outlook

Since our founding in 2019, our company has continuously interviewed domestic doctors about their needs regarding foreign medical devices. As part of this accumulation, triggered by a survey request concerning an MDSAP-certified device from a Taiwanese corporation, this survey collected and analyzed doctors' voices regarding selection criteria and information needs in the multi-wavelength laser device sector. For detailed analysis results of each survey item, please contact us. We will continue to work on improving the transparency of information regarding foreign medical devices through the accumulation and disclosure of objective data.
